Allow audio to be controlled via Essential Graphics

There doesn't seem to be any way to make audio editable in a mogrt, would be great to be able to do things like link audio levels to a checkbox to make it possible to enable/disable through the Essential Properties etc.

Currently manipulating audio with Essential Properties appears to be impossible

Just found this thread with the same issue as everyone else. I want to control audio of a precomp in AE via exposing an expression slider in the Essential Graphics panel, to be adjusted from the parent comp. Doesn't work unless I "push to comp" which defeats the purpose of this in the first place.

The use case is that I am automating export of series of 17 videos with unique audio tracks, in many sizes, so all told it's well over 100 videos. These were going to be driven from a number in the comp name, passed through the exposed essential property. So the only thing I would need to change the audio is to have the corresponding number in the comp name. I cannot do this using the selector precomp.

This is very frustrating that 3 years later this feature still isn't implemented.

Came to ask for it as well.
The exemple I can give is that my client wants to do a lot of A/B versions for the videos I'm making to check witch music they fell like is the best.
Since I'm already made dropdowns to change colors, images and texts (yes this campaign has a TON of moving parts) being able to also put audio controle by essencial graphics would be great (if not essencial)

And yes, I tried sliders to control audio levels and even the "Stereo Mixer" fx, even if I link this Stereo Mixer to a checkbox to make it 0 / 100% the moment I put the checkbox on the essencial graphics, it stops working.
I think this looks more like a bug than a missing feature but here we are.

@V-Edit Very interesting! (a shame that we have to resort to that sort of hacks to fix Adobe's bugs, but anyway 😏)

Could you tell us a bit more? I would love to get ChatGPT to code this for me, but I need to understand a bit more 😛 So if I get what you're saying, you're importing a 30sec MOGRT and then you use your custom panel to resize its length in such a way that the sound is still there?
Could you perhaps share the code of this CEP panel? 🙂

Thanks a lot!

Not sure if this workaround will help anyone, but I successfully used this method to "switch" audio in MOGRTs:

  1. Create a longer MOGRT. For example, if the original MOGRT is 5 seconds long, create a 30-second version that includes all possible audio options. (Graphics can restart every 5 seconds)

  2. Build a CEP panel to precisely control the trim and slip of all MOGRT clips on the timeline that share a specific name prefix.

Creating a CEP panel like this is possible with the help of ChatGPT.

You can also use a CEP extension panel to control the text content of MOGRTs, along with many other parameters. In some cases, it can completely replace the native MOGRT "Properties" panel.

However, this approach requires more in-depth work with CEP JavaScript and HTML.

+1 we really need this feature. I am at the beginning of building a new library of MOGRTs for our video series, and it means 3-5x more work, more clips to choose from if I have to make separate MORGT for every separate possible audio. Thank god its only 3-5 audio possibilities per graphics.

Please address this issue as soon as possible! Thank you very much! This is high level priority for many people, it's kinda urgent, and oughta work for years...

Thank you for your feedback and your patience on this, @AndileJohnson and @Maxime29161063u17i. I don't have any updates to report at this time, but this thread will be updated if a way to control audio in Essential Properties/Motion Graphic Templates comes to the Beta builds.

Thanks again,

Hi @JohnColombo17100380, any news on this audio support for MOGRTs ?

Due to this lack of support, I'm moving back to more hacky means (like having a folder with subsequences with pre-arranged animations/audio clips), which is a shame since I invested a lot of time in building a set of branded MOGRT. But without embedded sound design, MOGRT are currently not worth the extra effort for me.

@JohnColombo17100380 Adding my vote to this.

I'm asking for Adobe to add audio in graphics templates. Example use case I drag in video file (which has embedded audio) into media replacement zone, I want the template to have the audio from the file as well as the option for me to build more complex functionality using the audio channel (for example mute/solo, volume, pan)

Sound control in mogrts should also allow the use of sounds in intro/outro and protected regions, and retain the ability to change duration in PP. I can understand why sounds in a "time-stretchable" area of the mogrt would be a problem, but it should be possible in the protected areas.

Hey Adobe devs, any news from fixing this bug?

Could you guys please try to fix this ? It's been years since I try to make use of MOGRT sound design, but adding sound breaking responsive design makes the whole thing useless. Having to add sound effects manually makes the whole use case of MOGRT in Premiere much less useful.

This complicates my workflow significantly.
