Select and label timeline elements to move them together in time

I spend too much time searching for which timeline elements are associated with corresponding movement in the viewport. Shifting layers, in/out points, and keyframes in time often takes multiple selection passes. And there's no way to store that selection, so they each have to be selected every time they need to be adjusted (and in/out points can't even be selected so they all need to be done separately... every time!).

Selectable in/out points and labels/groups for ALL timeline elements--any combination of keyframes, markers, in/out points, and layers--would strengthen the visual connection between the timeline and the viewport AND allow for faster timeline adjustment of those grouped movements.

and for many types of work, precomping comes with substantical tradeoffs. again, accessing multiple types of elements directly in the same timeline is the fastest, most intuitive way to work.

then just forget the labels or storing selecitons. at least make in and out points selectable so you can move keyframes and in/out points at the same time. is this doable by a script? sort of. it still takes longer than interacting directly with the timline, an experience which cannot be understated.

I get what you're saying, but to be honest I dread the extra complexity. You'd likely have to introduce some sort of selection manager panel that already adds to the many that AE has. I also think the scenario is too special for a generic implementation plus you can do a bunch of those things already with scripts. Also a lot of times pre-comosing and moving layers together as a whole pre-comp would probably work just as well. At least I can't imagine a scenario where I would scroll through tens or hundreds of layers without having considered that as I build my project.
