AE 2020 Update "Crashing a Lot" and "Bad Rendering"

New Here ,
Nov 22, 2019 Nov 22, 2019

I started getting screenshots since I'm just sick of this thing crashing on me so many times 😞

Anyone having these issues?

The only plugin I'm running in my current project is Element 3d 2.2. Not sure if that is the cause of crashes. I have to restart my computer so AE will work correctly again.

AND when I try rendering through Media Encoder most of the times it does not render correctly! Some things get lost and at times blurry in the final render.

Hi MarcosMeson,

Thanks for reaching out. It looks like that you are getting random crashes while working in After Effects, am I correct? Please share the following info so we can troubleshoot the issue:

  • What are your system specifications (RAM, CPU, GPU and OS version)?
  • Are you having this issue with a particular project or all of them?
  • What happens when you try to export the project from After Effects.

Also, here are a few sugegstions which may help:

  1. Try resetting the preferecnes of After Effects.
  2. Remove the third party plugin (Element 3d 2.2) and check if it helps.
  3. Try to export the project from Media Encoder and After Effects while "Mercury Software only" is enabled. You can follow the steps below to enable Mercury Software Only as renderer:
  • In After Effects go to File > Project Settings, change the renderer under Video Rendering and Effects tab.
  • In Media Encoder go to Edit > Preference > General and change the renderer under Video Rendering section.

Let us know how it goes.

Thanks,

NKush

totally agreed... I have Dell G3 and on this system Maxon Cinema 4D R20 with Octane Render 4 heavy render work fast but whenever i use after effects let me tell you that without heavy effects this software cache goes more than 10 gb and keep system get hang during work that not enough if i render system totally get hang and if you hard shutdown your entire file get currupt. so you can't work and you can't render... bloody i can't even render normal text simple animation that also hang system which is terrible.
I don't understand once after effects start what bloody 10 gb cache get collect in temp when i didn't use any footage or effects in dell g3 there you 120 gb in C drive and if we change this after effects cache path to D drive this dumb software keep collect those cache in C drive... if this is how then why they give that bloody Cache change path option which don't work
