When I create a new project/composition the canvas window does not show. Can someone help me with this?

Correct answer Rick Gerard

If resetting your workspace does not fi the problem and your version of AE is up to date, check the graphics drivers and then check the GPU acceleration settings in the Project Panel. If that fails, trash your preferences.

I do have one question? Why are you creating a comp that is thirty minutes and thirty seconds long? I hope you are not planning to edit a video in AE. It's the wrong tool.

Did this work for you?

Should be window/workspace/reset to default.

Thank you for the help Rick I really appreciate it. Resetting my workspace was what did the trick. The duration should actually be 15 min, I'm making a countdown timer for a sound studio to play when they broadcast in between shows. Would this be better suited for Premier or another adobe product?
