Why is my text typing from right to left in After Effects?

I'm using the horizontal type tool with text left to right selected in the Paragraph panel but it is typing right to left outside to the left of the text box. Screen recording attached for reference. I have updated to the newest version and restarted my computer and it's still doing it when I start a New Project. This started when I copy and pasted copy into my workspace and tried to edit it it got all crazy but it didn't do this is the original document. Not sure if it carried some weird settings over but I can't figure out how to fix it.
