Adobe Bridge error Message with no text only an "OK" button which when clicked crashes

When I start up Adobe Bridge (Mac Sonoma 14.4.1) I immediately get an error message box which has no text in it.  There is an "OK" button which when clicked causes the error pop up box to flash repeatedly for several seconds before the entire application crashes.

This happens every time I start the program.  I've already ensured this is the latest version of bridge that is running;  I've tried to purged the cache - although it's not clear anything is actually happening as the app is mostly unresponsive when the error message is displayed.  Nothing in the program window can be clicked but the menu bar dropdowns will display, but don't seem to do anything when it is clicked.

This happened randomly after using Bridge on this computer successfully for 6 months or so.

I have about 180 GB free on this laptop so I don't think this is a memory issue?

I've seen serveral other people report similar issues that had thjird party apps running and interfering with Birgde, but I don't have anything like this that I can find (they were on windows so the methods they used for identifying these interactions didn't translate for me).

Screenshot of the error message attached.

Any suggestions?  This may have correlated with the last update of Bridge which happened 14 days ago now.

in the future, to find the best place to post your message, use the list here, https://community.adobe.com/

p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post (like this one has already been moved) if it helps you get responses.

Thanks for moving and for the tip.  I agree, not the easiest to navigate some of the time.

I was able to resolve my issue using the Command+Shift+Option trick (press all three immediately upon opening bridge) and in my case, clearing the local cache files using the window that pops up.

Does anyone know if this could have been do to me changing cache setting or something?  I don't have a wildly large amount of photos that were included in the cache (previews etc) but perhaps it had just gotten too large?

Seemed odd to me this didn't just trigger an error saying "Cache is too full".

Hi MisterRuggles. Welcome to the Bridge Community. I'll help you figure it out.

We have released a new version of Bridge 14.1. To update Bridge to 14.1, click "Update" in the Creative Cloud desktop app next to Bridge. More detailed instructions for updating

You may need to update the Creative Cloud application and restart your computer to see the updated installer.

After updating the Bridge still if issue persists try with below steps:

1. In the preferences panel under cache->increase the cache size to max.

2. Check the purge cache that is older than n days. Increase the n value.

3. Automatically Export Cache to a folder when possible.

Please check here for the steps to purge the cache: https://adobe.ly/4b8y18M;

Please let us know that cache or thumbnails are regenerating in central cache or in Exported cache folder. Where are you storing all the images?

Let me know if this helps,

Thanks!

Shivani
