Bridge 2023 -External Drive - Move instead of Copy from Finder

Hello,

I dragged a file from a finder window located on an external hard drive to a folder in my main HD opened in Bridge window and it was moved instead of being automatically copied as it should.

I believe this is bug.

Hi,

The mentioned issue is fixed in the latest patch release #13.0.1.583. Please install and confirm if that fixes the issue.
You can refer to the issues fixed in the patch at the following link https://helpx.adobe.com/bridge/kb/fixed-issues.html

Thanks,

2018 Mac Mini, macOS 13.0....same issue as OP. Files move even when moving between different drives. Such a strange bug!

You have to copy/paste rather than drag. Yes its a PITA bug.

Same issues here... clearly a bug in the new release.  Somewhat alarming to discover your files are missing from the original source (in my case, external card drive after dragging to computer hard drive).  In the meantime, just right click the files and use the "copy to" command, which does work (in Windows 10 anyway).

Another annying bug is that the file directory in Bridge keeps automatically scrolling to the top, as opposed to where one leaves off, making moving files more difficult still.

Lots of great stuff in the new release, but hope these issues can be fixed soon.

I'm having the same issues also. I drag and drop from main hd to external hd to back up my files. Fortunately I noticed my files were being moved and not copied before I lost any of them. Yes I also find it annoying when I open Bridge it scrolls to the top to Desktop instead of where I left off under My PC. I thought updates were supposed to make things better, not worse. I ended up going back to the previous Bridge and Photoshop. They work as they should. Hopefully Adobe will fix these issues.

I'm having the same issue. The only way now to deal is select files and then Ctrl+C Ctrl+V in the new folder. This is really buggung me  tho

My workflow is to drag files from the Content pane to a folder in Favorites. I use a small set of folders and do this all day long. The correct (and previously used) behavior is to copy to an external drive, copy with the cmd/ctrl key held down (the cursor has a + sign) and move to the same drive with no modifier keys.

Bridge 2023 ALWAYS moves files, I can't get it to copy either with the cmd/ctrl key or to an external volume. This bug alone prevents me from using Bridge 2023 in production.

Hi Shlomit,

I'm sorry, but I tried to replicate your problem, and I cannot. (I'm on a Mac Studio running 12.6)

If you have "Path Bar" checked from the Windows menu (in Bridge), where are the images in Bridge.

This is what I see when I look at the files I placed on my desktop

And this is what I see when I look at the same files that I had on an external drive (they are still there).

Let me know what you see.

Hi Gary,

I made some screenshot hoping to explain it better.

When I drag a file located on my External drive from a finder window to a floder in Bridge that is located on my main Hard drive, I don't see the "+" sign as I usually see when dragging a file that is not located on the same Hard drive. That's when the file is moved. By natrual it should be automatically copied.

But

When I do the opposite, i.e. dragging a file from the same folder on my main HD in a Bridge window, to the same folder on the External hard drive, the "+" sign do appear and the file will be copied.

Drag and drop should behave the same on both directions but it's not and it used to be before.

Thank you,

Shlomit

Hello Shlomit,

I can confirm the behavior.

No matter if you drag the files from the Finder into the bridge or select an external drive within the bridge: The data is moved and not copied (as it should be!).

This is not the usual Finder behavior and it´s very annoying because you could accidentally delete data. I hope this will be fixed quickly.

Greetings

Agi

This is apparently a known bug, there were notes at some point in the beta about drag and drop only allowing move and not copy.

Lumi, I'm not seeing that. I tried both D&D, Move to…, and Copy to…

Each one is working as expected on my system.

Apparently they removed the post about the beta. It had this bug listed for drag operations (not using menu items to copy.)

Drag a file to a folder in Favorites, it will only move not copy.
