Bridge open all types of files in AfterEffects.

Explorer ,
Apr 03, 2019 Apr 03, 2019

After update to 9.0.2.219 x64 (Win 10) Bridge opens all kind of files in AfterEffects.

.psd, .jpg. .indd, .pdf, .xls you name it. ALL.

Resseting file types associations - no change.

Resseting all preferences (Ctrl+Alt+Shift start method) - no change.

Any ideas?

To be clear, opening from Windows finder works correctly, just double clicking inside Bridge opens AE.

Same here on Mac.

Adobe Bridge v. 9.0.2.219

When trying to open any file format including Camera Raw, Bridge will Launch After Effects v. 16.1.0 (build 204) even though Bridge preferences shows file types are associated to other Adobe applications.

Right click not always working, as for example .docx - the "Open with" option is not available..

Why, for the past 2 years, do all Adobe product keep getting worse?

This happening to me as well and I'm on Windows 10. I uninstalled After Effects for now and that works but if I reinstall After Effects it comes back. Welp, looks like I won't have AE installed for now. WTF.

Same thing here on Win10. Uninstalling Ae "solves" it, but...that's lame.

I'm running into the same issue. Started today with the update. I really rely on Bridge to view/launch my files quickly. Please fix this. I use AE way too much in conjunction with the other Adobe products to uninstall it.

Happening here too.

Removing AE solves to problem, however installing AE again brings back the issue.

Started after updating AE today.

Reinstalling Bridge dos no fix the issue.

Adobe will release a fix quickly, I'm sure

I just wanted to add my voice to the "me too" camp so Adobe hopefully sees this and fast tracks a patch on this issue. I've already tried resetting default file-type associations as others have suggested and also have seen no result. I'm not able to uninstall After Effects because I'm using it (a lot). But I basically do everything out of Bridge, so a fix can't come soon enough!

Info from my setup:

  • issue began after today's update
  • Windows 10 Home 64-bit

I had the same problem after updating AE.

Unchecking After Effects in Preference/Startup Scripts and re-starting Bridge fixed it for me.

Hope this helps

Seems like temporarily disabling the Adobe AfterEffect script in Preferences > Startup Scripts helps.

Yes same problem - only started happening after latest After Effects update - have like everyone else here checked the file associations.

Seriously !!

JPEG files in bridge when double clicked in the content window opens the file in After Effects everytime despite Photoshop being the 'default' application for opening JPEG's.

Adobe can you please fix ASAP as it's a total pain.

Had issues yesterday with the Premiere Pro update that wasted a couple of hours of my time and now this.

Does anyone actually test anything before they release it ??? It's really poor.
