Bridge with the Interface choice in Preferences?

Hi everyone. I have Photoshop CS5 and the version of Bridge does not have the Preferences > Interface menu option to increase the size of the text. I'm very proficient in Bridge and use it constantly - but the tiny font for the keywords is driving me crazy - and my eyes are wearing out from trying to peer at the tiny font.

Does anyone know which version of Bridge has the Interface option and can it be purchased as a separate program - and if so, will it then still work with Photoshop CS5?  Thanks for any suggestions.

Donna

Sorry, my memory might have tricked me... Only the new version scales the entire UI, IIRC this time.

Hi PECourtejoie

The version of Bridge 2021 I have is 11.0.0.83. It was downloaded automatically by Creative Cloud. I did not join Creative Cloud but Bridge 2021 still works just fine, and I can scale the entire program, as you mention.

I didn't expect that it would remain usable since I did not subscribe to Creative Cloud - but it is still working so far.

Cheers!

Hello, in older version, I believe the increase font size was located in the contextual menu of the file info and keywords panels (the hamburger menu on the top right)

Hi PECourtejoie - yes, there is a choice to increase the font size of the Metadata - and it does work. But that same choice is not available for the Keywords - at least it is not anywhere I have found - and I have looked everywhere all over the program. But thanks for the suggestion.

All the best to you,

Donna

Hi Donna,

Good news bad news. The latest version of Bridge does have font resize capabilities:

The "I'm not to sure about" news is that I'm not all that sure it will work with your version of PS since it's very old.

You could start with a new subscription service

https://www.adobe.com/creativecloud/photography/compare-plans.html

HOWEVER, if you are currently using CS5, I have a hunch that you're using an old computer and Adobe will not guarantee that their products will work on anything older than current OS and two generations earlier. (That means that the programs "may" work but if there's an issue, they will not support any fixing of it.)

So in short, either keep on squinting, or get a new computer and a subscription plan.

OR — You do not mention what OS you are on but IF you are on a Mac, I can strongly recommend "Zoom It" (http://www.zoomitapp.com/zoom-it.html).

I've used this for years. It provides a lot of flexibility. I'm sure there's a comparable products for PCs but I would not know which one to recommend.

Hi Gary

Thanks for your input. Actually I am on a brand new custom built PC running Windows 10 Pro with 16.6 GB ram Intel Core i7 64 bit. And it runs my CS5 just fine.  But the issue with the tiny font in my version of CS5 is a real problem. However I no longer do any professional photography and can't justify the expense of the Creative Cloud subscription. So I'm still hunting for some kind of a workaround. I appreciate your advice just the same.

All the best to you,

Donna

Hi Donna,

I'm astounded that CS5 is working on your machine. Will wonders never cease! ;>)

If the $120/year is not feasible, there are other options: Photoshop Elements is still purchase and own (and at this point, it's probably significantly more powerful than CS5). Plus there are quite a number of other companies (ON1, Capture One, GIMP, and others).

Meanwhile, do look for something like the Zoom It on windows, there has to be one.

Good luck!
