Question

Can't rename a file

I have had some problems with my PC (running W11) as a result of a corruped drive.  As far as I can see these problems are now resolved but I am left with one remaining issue. I can no longer rename files in PS. I can rename in Windows Explorer as normal  but when I try to rename in PS, using right click, the text is highlighted as usual, but when I try to type the new file name I get the error message "invalid type conversion". Can anyone assist please

Hey, @ikonmina. Welcome to the Photoshop Community. I'll move the thread to Bridge for now. I'll need more info to help you figure this out.

Where are the original files stored? Internal, or external drive? Has this started to happen since a recent update to Bridge or the Windows OS?

As a basic step, try this:

Go to C Drive > Program Files > Adobe > Bridge 2024> Bridge.exe

Right-click > Run as Administrator

Check if that helps & let me know how it goes.

Thanks!

Hi Sameer,

Thanks for the advice. Bizarrley, it turned out to be a corrupted SSD on my PC. The repair shop said there were other odd errors which I had not seen.

Thanks again.
