Error message:"Cannot create the specified file. The file name is invalid or..."

When I am in Bridge ver 12.0.1.246 and try to import my Nikon NEF files to an external western Digital 5TB drive with the Photo Downloader feature I get this error message:

"Cannot create the specified file. The file name is invalid or you do not have the permission to save to the specified directory."

I tried saving the files to a folder on my desktop and had no problem. How do I get these files to download onto my external drive?

Please supply more information. What operating system? How is the external drive formatted? Can you manually copy files to the drive? What name are you trying to use?

This is a "Security" issue caused by your System.

Make your external SSD or HDD into a "Shared" volume;

and make sure that you kave Permissions set to for you to both read and write to that SSD.
