How to Stop Bridge from changing the open folders when changing the workspace

Bridge changes the open folders when changing the workspace. I don't want the open folders to be saved as part of that workflow layout. I don't want files from months ago to replace my open folders when I change the workspace.

For example, if I'm in one workspace and am working on folder A, but also have B and C open, then I switch the workspace and folder A does remain open as the active folder, but I lose folders B and C and now I have folders X, Y, and Z open because they happened to be open when I created the workspace.

The workspace should IGNORE the folders that are open at the time you create or save it, and just remember the layout. Folders shouldn't be saved as part of the layout. Instead, when you change a workspace, all open folders should continue to be the open folders in the workspace you shift over to.

How do I stop Bridge from saving the folders as part of the layout. It says in the guide that this CAN be done via the preferences settings, but it doesn't say HOW to do it. I couldn't find anything in preferences that seemed to control this. Please help. Thank you.

Look in:

Adobe Bridge Preferences>Content>Workspace Behaviour

Make sure the box "Do not retain the active folder while switching workspaces" is unchecked.

Thanks, but I never had that box checked.

By unchecking, you're telling it to retain the active folder when switching workspaces. That is not the issue. I DO retain the active folder, however, all the folder panels that are current but not presently the folder I'm in, are lost when I switch to the next workspace. So it WILL keep the active folder I'm in, but now instead of having the other folder panels that I also had in the previous workspace, are gone, and the old panels that happened to be active when I first saved the workspace months ago, replace all my current folder panels - so I lose every currrent job I was working on. When I switch back to the previous workspace, then they are there again, but I lose them and get old panels when I switch.

What I'm saying is that if I have panels A B C D E on my screen and I'm currently working in A, now I switch to a new workspace and I still have A as my active panel, but now B C D and E are gone, and panels from months ago replace them. They are the jobs I happened to have had opened when I saved my workspace months ago.

How do you save a workspace so that it doesn't save the open folder panels with it?

Just a note, it's no longer called "preferences", it's now "settings"

I assume that you are using a Mac system - still "Preferences" on Windows systems.

I am still unlear about the terminology you are using however.

You refer to several  "Folder Panels" but you may only have one. You can have many "Content Panels" so is that  what you are referring to? If you have multiple Content Panels open, then only one of them will be the active panel so when you change Workspaces, only that one will be preserved.

Can you perhaps post a screenshot showing the layout of your workspace to make this more clear?
