Is it possible to configure Bridge make XMP files for JPGs instead of embedding keywords and edits?

Similar to how you can instruct bridge to write external XMP files for DNGs, is there a similar way to do this for JPG? I've noticed that metadata is written by default into the JPG, even camera raw edit info.

To Lumigraphics who commented that this operation is (sadly) not possible.

Do you know how to contact the Lightroom developers to suggest features that we would like to see implemented?

I really would like to be able to leave the jpgs from my iPhone photos intact without changing the Creation Date. So much of Lightroom is designed around non-destructive processing so it would be useful to have this feature work the same way,

Hi Bryans,

No and yes. Let me explain.

The JPG is a container file (like a DNG file). So when you open a JPG in Adobe Camera Raw, any changes you make will be stored within the JPG. The only problem with this is if you were to send this jpg to someone who does not have any Adobe products, they will see the JPG as it was BEFORE you made any changes. So if you plan on sending a JPG that you've adjusted, you just need to do a Save As... to a new JPG prior to sending.

Meanwhile, like any raw file, you can right-click on a JPG that has been procesed with ACR, select Devleop Settings and then select Clear and you're back to where you started.
