I know that I can choose View > Items in Subfolders, but that isn't what I want.
Sometimes I want to look at separate folders at the same time, and was wondering if I could open more than one instance of the Bridge application.
Hi,
Bridge allows us to open multiple instances by selecting File-> New Window.
All windows work independently.
Regards,
Abhishek Seth.

I am facing exactly the same problem and am SUPER dissapointed. These different windows made it so fantastic to work with Bridge, but with the content-tab it is WAY LESS comfortable. I hope Adobe brings back this options asap...

I went back to Bridge 12.0.3 and will use it until it stops working. hopefully, they bring back to multiple windows or maybe there is another app similar?
In my years, I have learned that change is inevitable whether it is good or bad, it will happen and for the most part, there is nothing we can do about it. Whining, crying, getting upset, and throwing a tantrum affects the one person doing it and no one else, other than the bad mood that people see you in and avoid you. (I know, I have done it before)
Not a fan of many Adobe App updates and changes since 1990, but with few options, I deal with it, learn to live with it, and eventually get over it and adapt to a new workflow (oh who am i kidding?)
Unless there was a mass flood of complaints that people did not like having multiple windows of Bridge and wanted them as a tab, I have no idea why they would change it Because they want it, or did the development team have a deadline to justify their existence?
"Oh, hey. What if we change this and remove that?"
"Was there a request to do so?"
"Not from the people who use the app, no."
"Oh. Okay, let's do it."

If you stay silent when you're not happy about something you don't deserve anything.
And when the majority stay silent, nothing changes and you're part of the problem.
There's big different between "whining/crying" and voicing your dissatisfaction on a product that you play monthly (quite pricey).
I personally saw changes happen from the companies making Resolve, Reaper Audio, Live, and Sketch…
I've switch to softwares that listens to their customer to some degrees.
I know a lot of people who switched to Photopea Online, it's pretty much a free photoshop and it can open PSDs with ease. I'm thinking about switching since Photoshop is the only thing tying me up to Adobe now.
I'll admit that I doubt that Adobe listens to anyone on anything, but if your not trying anything, you get nothing.
Keep doing nothing if you want and be part of the problem like most people.

Forgive me @Simon26681100mhx9, but there is a big difference between asking for something versus demanding, insisting, threatening, and screaming because the request was not provided the next day.
I am one of many who've been asking for multiple tabs in Bridge since it was first released. Year after year, release after release, we asked again and again. Did I, or anyone have any idea that Adobe would remove multiple windows? No, so please do not tie those things together.
But please also consider that working with software is no different from medical triage: you treat the person who's in cardiac arrest before the broken arm. You deal with the broken arm before the sprained shoulder. Etc., etc.
To return multiple windows, it turns out, is a big task. It will not happen by tomorrow. Next week? Who knows. It might be months, and it might be the 14 years we've waited for tabs (and I seriously doubt that).
But as a non-Adobe employee who tries to help folks in these forums, I am very tired of the foul language and threats that appear. Politeness will get you much further. Understanding will get you further yet.

I'm not sure what you're refering to here, but I didn't see anyone "scream" on this thread or make any serious threat other than jumping ship lol. Insisting on something on a forum is totally legit, demanding something is totally legit as a paying customer. Adobe can do what they want and ultimately people will speak with their dollars, end of story. When they'll lose enough dollars, maybe they'll start listening. For the record, I'm not angry or yelling, I'm just dissapointed. I've never posted on this forum outside of this post. And I just took a look at everyone's post on this thread, including mines. Nobody used foul language or made any threats, I think you're exaggerating and/or too sensitive.

I work in the audio software industry, I know exactly what software development entails and I've been a Photoshop user since version 2.5 in 93. I've seen them change over time and recognize their developement patterns and practices. I understand that a software gets bloated overtime and that at some point to implement new requested features it needs a rewrite and some stuff will fall by the wayside. The ability to open multiple windows is a big one not be be dropped lightly especially for people using multiple monitors. As I can see here, many people agree that this is a ridiculous feature removal. It forces me to find a new software to replace this one (or completement it). This is not a small thing when your workflow totally depends on this feature.

Apparently, you've not looked at EVERY email that has come into this forum. I have seen all of them, ranging from 150 - 300 emails a day). Yes, you were not yelling, but if lack of silence on this issue was happening here, I've not seen it. Every day people mention, talk, shout, and scream about its absence. (I consider all-caps screaming.) But were you telling folks to keep up the barrage of requests? Yes. Trust me, that will NOT speed things up, and it won't slow things down either — it will be released when it's ready.
Look, I do appreciate that the loss of what was a basic feature is not good and can be a career issue. But, again, every day, we hear this over and over and over. Getting calls for more is not helping.
I can appreciate what you work at as an audio recording engineer, and I'm sure you must appreciate that some things are easy to fix or add, and others are not. This is one of the "nots." I do know that for Bridge 13, they did the M1 conversion, added multiple Tabs, and a host of new features. Plus, they did this with a shallow staff, a non-realistic deadline, and a forced release. It would have been MUCH better if it was released as a publically released beta, but the corporation didn't want to do that.
BTW, for the record, I mentioned the request to get tabs only to point out that that took some 17 years. That's all.

This is the only time I ever expressed my dissatisfaction on Adobe's forum, also the first time I looked at a tread on this forum. 150-300 emails a day, I hope this is your passion or that you're paid for this. I don't have this kind of time. That being said, no, I don't know that people are giving death threats over this on other threads, for that, you're telling it at the wrong tree.
It's not like Adobe makes it easy for their paying customers to contact them and actually reach someone. The only thing left is venting on their official forum and hoping something will change at the risk of getting lectured by a potentiallly jaded "community expert" about it. lol
Alright, so let's be patient then.

@Simon26681100mhx9 There are many, many, many threads on this. You'd be amazed. And, no, I do not respond to all messages in the threads. If it deals with Windows issues, I leave it alone (I'm a Mac guy); if others are already on it, I leave it to them. If I do not have a clue, I also leave it alone. Oh, when people are really rude, I leave them alone as well. There have been no death threats, but a written "effing" to Adobe does show up on occasion (and I leave those alone as well (LOL)).
There are certain benefits to this, but normally, back in the good ol' days, I may answer one or two comments a day. Now, it's just plain wackadoodle.
And you're correct; Adobe does not make it easy. But sadly, that's right in line with most companies nowadays. Getting good service is getting harder and harder (and yet you're still asked to rate each person and their "wonderfulness").
Thank you for understanding.

I hear ya!
Personally I understand the multiple nature of a forum, it has always been like this.
Like my father always said "If you don't like drunk people, don't hang out in Pubs!"
Anyway, this was my time.
I'll come back when they decide to remove the ability to open more than one PSD file at a time in Photoshop lol
Good like to us all!

Hi Garry,
It's been done. Adobe is working on it. It will happen. The only thing that is unknown is when.
Now you know as much as I do, and I'm glad to help with what I can.
