Multiple monitor views

Is it possible to have Bridge visible on one monitor and the preview window full size on another window?

I've seen some workarounds but none fit what I need. Win PC.

Correct answer polyxo

Extending the original statement, I also find Bridge to perform deplorable with multiple screens. The coders who created the original concept, many years ago, likely had only one screen available. I have two identical screens, side by side…

  • Can I maximize the view on both screens (spacebar) to compare images?
  • With one Bridge Window maximized, can I continue working in the other instance?

The answer in both cases is No.
This never worked and sure enough, this wasn't changed when multiple app windows got re-introduced.

Hi there,

I think I've figured out a solution of some sort (Windows).

After updating my Bridge, fullscreen preview started appearing on the monitor where Content panel is mostly located. There is no way yet to change this behaviour. However, since I use third-party multi-monitor manager – I could figure out something.

There is a function there to make certain windows appear on specific monitors – so I just've created a rule there for that Bridge fullscreen preview. This is how:

  1. Software is Actual Multiple Monitors. Refer to its documentation of course )
  2. Set up Window Settings rule like this:
  3. Then set its startup behaviour like this (or any other monitor you prefer):

    Hope this helps.

Hi,

Thanks for your feedback.

Please follow these steps to move the preview panel on another monitor

  • Right click on Preview Panel top bar to open context menu
  • Click on Undock panel from the menu
  • Move the preview panel on another monitor
  • Resize the preview panel

Thanks,

NO SUCH 'context' menu in my BR Preview Panel.   Is it a feature of a newer BR?  I'm using 12.0.4.286 because it used to be the one with the least bugs.  AND, it used to automatically open a thumbnail ON the second monitor but now it does not.  Am reluctant to upgrade to the most recent BR (2024) because so much space is wasted with EYE BLINDING DEAD WHITE blocky fonts and in the Metadata panel ALL editable features are surrounded by HUGE BLOCKY DEAD WHITE lines which distract from the info.  Im using Win11 BTW not a teeny cellphone.

The Bridge UI has undergone major changes since 2023.

The Bridge 2025 I'm currently using is set up as follows:

Main monitor (Actual size is 2560x1440 pixels.)

Sub monitor (Actual size is 1600x1000 pixels.)

That is a shame, it would be really useful.

I am guessing that you mean to have the Preview Panel on another MONITOR?

If so then yes,  it is possible and I have my PC set up like that.

Just drag the preview panel onto your other monitor.

I would recommend that, when you succeed in organising a suitable layout, you save it as a custom workspace.

Thanks, tried dragging the preview pane out does not work that way, latest version of Bridge Windows 10.

Any suggestions?

I have no problem dragging the Preview Panel to any location on any of my two monitors. Make sure you drag the tab and are not just trying to resize. Which version of Bridge are you using? Please be specific and not just say "latest". I am on Windows 11 rather than 10 but I don't see that making a difference.
