Recovering Deleted files from SD Card using Bridge

Unfortunately, using Bridge CC (2023) when deleting .NEF or RAW files from an SD card, it seems that they do not get sent to the recycle bin.

My deletion came when I was Batch Renaming several files, and then noticed that some files nearby were suddenly missing.  Never pressed the delete key, never went through the prompt to confirm deletion (which comes up when: right click>delete)...

Using Recuva I was able to recover the deleted files but it's problematic that we cannot choose where deleted files go in Bridge.  I fear that if I had not noticed the deleted files, and removed the SD card and taken a photo that the files would have been unrecoverable.

I'm here because I had a similar experience. I wanted to delete a single file from an SD card filled with the day's shots, but due to the way Bridge works in selecting for thumbnail views, the whole string of files was selected, and they all went out the window. It is not only finding files from today but also from many days ago. I don't fully know how this will play out.

Two hours later and I'm happy to report all of today's files were recovered in 100% pristine condition.

Wow! Stressful!

I really have to learn how to use Bridge.

Delighted you recovered your files.

If you use the Photo Downloader that is part of Bridge, one thing you really, really should do is to make sure that "Delete Original Files" is NOT checked. You should never delete the original files on the card until you have your images backed up on two different drives.

Why that option is there after all these years has always flummoxed me.
