XMP files showing (and flashing) in Bridge 12.0

After updating to Bridge 12.0, the XMP files are flashing when I move to a directory containing RAW files. The flashing eventually stops, but the XMP files are continue to be shown. "Show Hidden Files" is not selected, and selecting and unselecting, makes not difference. It must be a preference setting, but I can't find it.

I have been in contact with Adobe support because I encounter the same issue. I have discovered that when I rename the sidecar files from .XMP to .xmp the problem disappears and everyhting is normal.

I just discovered a strange thing that might help troubleshooting this: I opened an older folder with Bridge 12, containing CR2 and .XMP files. The problem occurs: the fimstrip is flickering, flashing, blinking, or how you would call it. I close Bridge 12 and open Bridge 11 to view the same folder. Everything looks normal. Then I close Bridge 11 and open Bridge 12 again, to look at that same folder. Everything looks normal!

I am experiencing the same problem. I'm on version 12.0.0.234.  The problem happens in any folder that contains .arw and .xmp files.  I'm willing to provide any info that is required to determine the cause.

Having the same issue with Bridge 12.0 on a windows 10 machine with Nikon NEF files.  Started with the update to 12.0 and has not resolved in the patch release.  xmp files show in all directory windows, show hidden files is not selected, "blinking" occurs during initial loading of directory as it bounces between showing xmp and NEF until it settles to showing the XMPs.  The NEFs exist but all later on in the directory.  Major nuisance.

Hi KenM115VA,

We are from Adobe Bridge Team and we tried this issue locally but not able to reproduce at our end. Please suggest if you are able to reproduce the issue consistently.

Could you share the following details about the issue:

  • Bridge version
  • System configuration
  • ACR Version
  • Is the issue specific to particular files/format?
  • Can you please try with cache purge?
  • Is the issue also reproduce with smaller file set (2-3 files)? If yes, Can you please share the sample files on which you are observing the issue at sharewithbr@adobe.com

Thanks,

Bridge Team

Yes, this is consistant.

Bridge version - 12.0.0.234

ACR version - 14.0.1

Format - always Canon 5D Mk III CR2 files.

Cash was purged.

File set - happens with large or small file set.

These files are all too big, they range in size between 23MB and 24MB. My ISP won't allow them. They are attached below.

Just noticed the the actual CR2 files did not transfer. I'll try again.

This method will not accept large CR2 files either. We'll need to try another method.

Same thing happening to me.  Camera type does not seem to matter.  Older and newer Fujis, Nikons, Olympus, or Panasonic.

Same problem here (Win10 Pro 21H2).  I reverted back to Bridge v11.  It seems to me that at every PS up-date, something also gets broken.

Seems that either Adobe isn't aware of this problem or they don't care. There is no reply anywhere on this issue and it is a great huge pain. Personally I'm looking around for a good alternative to Bridge. This is unacceptable.

OK

I see what your looking at.

I don't have tht issue, as you can see from the screen attached.

And there is no flickering either.

Not sure what is going on with your system.

I am on windows 11. Have you checked to see if your video driver is up to date?

What about deleting Bridge, rebooting, and reinstalling Bridge?

Jim, your xmps may not be flickering but why are they showing in Bridge? Do you have Hidden files showing?

I have exactly the same problem. When opening CRW files you have to select only the actual files one-by-one. If you select a number of files including the XMP files Photoshop will not open anything.
