(This is an old problem that has plagued AE for at least a year; I've previously reported it but cannot find that bug report*).
Steps to reproduce:
1. Work on an AE project for an hour or so
2. Notice how, unlike when you first launched AE, now:
- the CTI does not move during a preview
- nothing appears in the Info panel re: frame rate etc.
- when you move/scale/rotate anything in the Comp Viewer, you only see the bounding-handles, not the actual image move
- after you stop a preview playing, the Pg up/dn/home/end keys DO move the CTI, but NOTHING updates in the comp viewer. The only way to make the comp viewer update is to DRAG the CTI. Same thing when adjusting zoom (via the pop-up menu or middle mouse wheel; nothing updates until I drag the CTI).
This happens regardless of whether I have CPU/GPU acceleration set. The ONLY way to fix it is to quit & relaunch AE. closing and re-opening the project does not fix it. I'll check and update my graphics drivers to see if that helps (it hasn't helped in the past).
*I found the old bug reports/comments, going back as far as 2021:
https://community.adobe.com/t5/after-effects-discussions/pti-and-cti-not-moving-on-preview/m-p/12337...
and
https://community.adobe.com/t5/after-effects-discussions/pti-red-current-time-indicator-is-not-movin...
Interestingly, one of the comments on there says that "it is most likely to occur when switching between AE and Premiere, with dynamicly linked comps". I have DL comps in my current project (and use DL comps very often).
