P: Generative Fill with Nano Banana / Flux fails / “We have encountered an issue” error

Hello,

I’ve been testing the new Nano Banana (Gemini 2.5 Flash Image) and Flux models in Photoshop Beta, but unfortunately, they aren’t working for me. Every time I try to generate with them, Photoshop gives the error “We have encountered an issue and cannot complete your request at this time. Please try again.” Other models seem to work fine, but the two new ones consistently fail.

 

I’m on a MacBook Air M2 running macOS 26 (latest public release), and using the latest Photoshop Beta build. I’ve attached screenshots showing the issue.

 

1. Version & environment

 

  • Photoshop Beta version: 27.0.0 (latest beta release)

  • Machine: MacBook Air M2

  • macOS version: macOS 26.0 (latest public release)

 

2. Steps to reproduce

  1. Open Photoshop Beta
  2. Import or open an image
  3. Make a selection (e.g. using the selection brush)
  4. Invoke Generative Fill
  5. Choose the model “Nano Banana / Gemini 2.5 Flash Image” or “Flux”
  6. Enter prompt (e.g. “replace blue stripes with red stripes”)
  7. Click Generate
  8. Observe error: “We have encountered an issue and cannot complete your request at this time. Please try again.”

 

3. Expected vs Actual result

  • Expected: The Generative Fill tool uses the selected model (Nano Banana or Flux) and returns image edits per prompt

  • Actual: Shows the generating progress bar but, then shows error message (“We have encountered an issue…”) and fails to generate anything

 

4. Additional notes

  • This happens every time

  • Firefly models work perfectly fine as they did before

 

6. Workarounds tried

 

  • Tried re-launching the app (does not help)

  • Tried on a different images & PSDs

  • Making sure I'm on the latest Photoshop Beta

  • Tried other selection types (lasso, brush, etc.)

Hi @Akash_Aksah8359 has this issue persisted or only happened on this one file?  We would need to find out more about what your workflow was when this error happened.

 

Is there an issue with your network connection?  We need a bit more about what you were doing when this happend.

When using Generative Fill in the Photoshop beta, I encountered an issue where selecting either Google Gemini 2.5 (Nano Banna) or Flux Kontext Pro instead of Firefly, and then entering a prompt, results in an orange warning message indicating an error, and the feature does not work. However, if I select Firefly, Generative Fill works, but the results are very poor in quality. How can this issue be resolved?

In the Photoshop 27.0.0 Beta update, even though the Nano Banana and Flux models appear as options, attempting to use them always displays the message: “We have encountered an issue and cannot complete your request at this time. Please try again".

My co-worker and I have been experiencing the same issue. He was looking forward to using the Nano Banana gen AI, since he was using it prior to Photoshop. But neither of us can generate any results. We either get the "We have encountered an issue" error or it attempts to generate but then the loading window just dissappears after a second or two after attempting a generation.

I am writing to report a recurring error when using the Gemini 2.5 Flash Image model (also known as Nano Banana) within the Generative Fill feature in Photoshop Beta.

The Issue:

When attempting a Generative Fill action after selecting the Gemini model, the process fails, and I consistently receive the following error message:

"Nous avons rencontré un problème et ne pouvons pas traiter votre demande pour le moment. Veuillez réessayer."

(English translation: "We encountered an issue and cannot complete your request at this time. Please try again.")

System Details:

  • Photoshop Beta Version: 26.0.0

  • Operating System: macOS Tahoe

  • Feature Used: Generative Fill with the Gemini 2.5 Flash Image (Nano Banana) model selected.

Context: The error occurs during the generation process itself. I was performing a simple Generative Fill (e.g., making a selection and adding a prompt like 'add a red car'). This issue appears to be related to a server connectivity failure or a bug in the model's integration within the Beta application.

Hello Adobe Support Team,

gemini 2.5 (nano banana) in photoshop beta says we have encountered an issue and cannot complete your request at this time. please try again.

I have recently updated Photoshop to the latest version and noticed that the Nano Banana (Gemini) feature appeared and was available. However, whenever I try to use it by entering a prompt, I keep getting the following error message:

"We have encountered an issue and cannot complete your request at this time. Please try again later."

This issue has been ongoing for more than 3 days. I have already tried the following steps:

  • Restarting Photoshop and my computer

  • Testing with a new blank project

  • Ensuring my internet connection is stable

  • Completely uninstalling and reinstalling Photoshop beta

  • Making sure all updates are installed

Unfortunately, the problem persists. It is worth mentioning that:

  • Firefly is working fine

  • Gemini is not working for me, but it is working normally for my friends

Could you please advise if this is a server-side issue with Gemini, or if there is something specific I need to do to resolve it?

Generative Fill Error with Nano Banana/FLUX in Photoshop Beta: 'Cannot complete request' on Enterprise Account

Generative Fill fails when using Nano Banana or FLUX.1 Kontext [pro] model. Error: "We have encountered an issue and cannot complete your request at this time. Please try again." Firefly model works fine.

Photoshop version: [Check Help > System Info, e.g., 26.0 (Beta) or latest September 2025 build]

OS: macOS Sonoma 14.7 (or latest version on your M1 Pro)

Device: MacBook Pro with M1 Pro chip, 16GB RAM, Integrated GPU (8-core)

Steps to reproduce: 1. Open Photoshop Beta. 2. Create/Load image (e.g., person photo). 3. Select area with Lasso/Marquee tool. 4. Go to Contextual Task Bar > Generative Fill > Choose model: Gemini 2.5 Flash Image (Nano Banana) or FLUX.1 Kontext [pro]. 5. Enter prompt: [e.g., "Change shirt to blue jacket"]. 6. Click Generate—Error pops up immediately.

Expected result: Image generates with changes. Actual result: Error dialog appears, no generation.

Additional info: - Subscription: Enterprise Creative Cloud All Apps (not academic). - Generative credits available (no quota issue). - Tried: Restart app, clear cache, reinstall Beta—still fails. - System optimized for M1 Pro: Rosetta 2 compatibility ensured, latest macOS updates installed. - Screenshot/Video: [Attach your screenshot here, or record a quick screen video if possible]. - System Info: [Attach exported System Info file from Help > System Info].

Has this always happened, or just after an update? [e.g., Started after September 2025 update.

Hi all, been trying to use nano on beta for the past 3 days and keep getting this error. Enterprise Adobe account on windows. Any ideas? Regular firefly gen fill works fine, partner models do not work.
