For a complete overview of camera support in Photoshop and Lightroom, visit the following article:

Why doesn't my version of Photoshop or Lightroom support my camera?

  1. Make sure your version of Photoshop or Lightroom is updated for the latest camera support.
  2. If you own an older version of Photoshop or Lightroom, Adobe provides backward compatibility for the latest cameras through the FREE Adobe DNG Converter.

Note: ETAs for specific cameras are not available

No one can say (except for some Adobe employees, who are not allowed to say). You should check the list here each time Adobe updates the Lighroom Classic software.

Lightroom Classic and Lightroom Desktop depend on Adobe Camera Raw or camera and lens support. Therefore, rather than waste your time and ours trying to answer a question we don't have answer for, I think you'd best post your request in the forum thread intended  for camera support https://community.adobe.com/t5/camera-raw-discussions/p-new-camera-raw-file-support-requests-amp-inf...

Having done some research, it appears that Lightroom doesn't (yet) support the NIKKOR Z 28-400mm f/4-8 lens.

I know it's a new lens and support won't be immediate, but I can't find anything that says when support might be available.

Does anyone know anything about when support for the lens might be available?

Thanks,

Andy

Lens profiles for Nikon Z lenses are built into the raw files, and applied automatically by LrC.

These profiles correct for distortion and chromatic aberration, but not for vignetting.

At least that's the case for the lens I've got, the 24-70 f/4.

@Per Berntsen @Is exactly right. For z lenses support is immediate since the correction is embedded in the raw files. There will be no selectable profile, just the one you can see in the (i) button. This is the case for every single Z lens. For F mount lenses using the FTZ adapter you can sometimes find lens profiles in the pop-up but you DO NOT WANT to use those profiles since you well get double correction of distortion and vignette. They are a holdover from older camera bodies which do not embed lens profiles in the raw files. Z series cameras do even for F mount lenses.

That's useful to know. I'll stop apply lens correction then, and I definitely won't create presets to do it automatically on import!

If I have the correct camera, then LrC v13.5 is required and that is just preliminary support. This per:

and a note on preliminary support:

"Preliminary support means that the image quality and raw format support for the given camera model is not yet finalized and may be updated in a future release."

And this is not a bug, just a not completely supported camera at this point.

I have been waiting to hear when the Canon R5 Mark II was "supported" in Lightroom Classic and Photoshop. I wasn't sure if those two programs were "ready" for that camera yet. Anyone know of an issues with using either program with my R5 Mark II?  Please don't get technical - I'm not great with technical "stuff" - just didn't want to waste my time trying to edit  and find out the camera wasn't supported, or whatever you call it!  😉

Support for the Canon R5 Mark II was added to LR Classic 13.4 / Camera Raw 16.4:

iPhone 16 was released 2 weeks ago with plenty of fore-warning. Why is there no update to the camera RAW files?

Great, but it would be more useful now rather than waiting for some PR talkfest. If it's ready to go, why don't they just release it?

What doesn't work? I have an iPhone 16 pro and all its files work great including the proRAW files. Do you mean dng images from the Lightroom camera itself? Those seem to work just fine too for me too in Lightroom and in camera raw.

@Allan36215451o745: "iPhone 16 was released 2 weeks ago with plenty of fore-warning. Why is there no update to the camera RAW files?"

Full LR / Camera Raw support for new cameras from major manufacturers is usually included in the release following the availability of the cameras, sometimes the release after. The next release is due mid-October, the next one 8 weeks after that.  Adobe rarely comments on dates.

In general, the Camera Raw team doesn't profile pre-release cameras, since their firmware could change before they are released.

@stephenp69774191: "Was delivered 21/1//2024 and I am unable to load the RAW files into LrC as the RAW format is not supported for this camera."

I'm able to import pre-production samples from dpreview.com into my LR Classic 14.0.1. Can you import these samples?

The entry in Cameras Supported By Camera Raw is garbled and thus untrustworthy:

JohnREllis_0-1732298544091.png

JohnREllis_2-1732298605511.png

1. It reverses two column entries for Minimum Lightroom Version Required (13.0) and Minimum Lightroom Classic Version Required (8.0).

2. The Nikon Z 50 II was announced on November 7, 2024, and thus couldn't possibly have been included in LR Classic 13.0 (LR 14.0 was released 10/14/24).

Full support for cameras from leading manufacturers usually arrives in the release following the cameras' availability, sometimes the next release after that.  Lightroom releases about every 8 weeks, so we might expect the next release (with full support for the Nikon Z 50 II) mid-December.  But Adobe rarely comments on feature and release timing.
