Hi everyone,

When creating my character in Ai and adding gradients for example on the hair, when. I import the file to Ch for some reason the gradient doesn't show up. Is this normal? Thanks!

I normally do not use AI gradients so I cannot tell you if this is normal or not. I do know that AI masks are not interpreted by CH, in case you happen to by using one of those. Have you tried expanding your fill?

I’m not sure what that is? I’m pretty new to Ai. I’ve been using Ps but
started using Ai due to lower file size and scalability. I was able to
create everything properly though Ai but only having an issue with the
gradients. I’ll do some more searching.--

I created a file for testing and filled it with a gradient swatch from the control panel. Just a simple horizontal gradient. It imported fine, so I think we can rule out the basic two-tone gradient. The expand command is in the object pull-down menu: Object>Expand and has a couple of options for expanding gradients (making them easier for other programs to interpret). Is there anything else you can tell us? Would it help to share the puppet?

I ended up just creating the puppet with PSD and rasterized images. I got some good responses and suggestions so I'll eventually give them a try. Thanks for your response.

I did my entire mouth set of lips with gradient meshes successfully.  I know that is not the same thing as gradients however.

Gradients and several other AI features like text are now supported when "Render as Vector" is checked in CH. The default setting with that unchecked rasterizes them and if you do that, you should get the gradients.
