Can I use auto lip sync in Character Animator with my own cartoon jpeg or png?

Can I use auto lip sync in Character Animator with my own cartoon jpeg or png? Most of the YouTube and Adobe tutorials focus on creating one's own puppet from scratch, or using the stock puppets. I want to use my own cartoon image and make him speak/talk!

Is this possible?

I am a beginner to animating, so easy-to-use instructions would be much appreciated!

This youtube series i did a few years ago (so a little out of date) might be helpful https://extra-ordinary.tv/2018/10/22/project-wookie-a-beginner-youtube-playlist/. It starts from a flat image and turns it into a puppet step by step.

But you can definitely take a static image, then just do the part about mouths skipping moving arms and legs, eyes, etc. You don't have to do all of that if you only want to animate the mouth. You will have to turn into an illustrator or photoshop file however. You will need to drop in images for each mouth position to display when it hears a particular sound.

I don't know if you are referring to this: https://helpx.adobe.com/adobe-character-animator/using/characterizer.html

Apart from that, you will indeed have to reate your puppet from scratch (unless an available puppet fits your need https://okaysamurai.com/puppets/ ).
