Question

Get Rid of Double-Blink

Hey everyone,

I know this has come up before on the forum, but I'm looking to see if anyone's come up with a solution/workaround.

When I have auto-blink applied to a character, it very often causes all blinks to be a double or triple rapid blink which is a bit jarring. Is there a way to prevent this from happening?

When I lower the randomness, it looks unnatural. Really, I would want the character have irregular intervals between blinks, but maybe limit the number of double-blinks per minute.

Any advice?

I had success with lowering blinks per minute and  turning eyelid strength to 0 in face (head) behavior. Some of my double blinks were the camera following my own blinks and they added to the auto blinks (too many blinks lol!)

Interesting. I still want to be able to close the eyes, so I need to be able to add my own blinks. I could do it with a trigger, but this particular set of puppets is already overly complicated.

Right now I'm experimenting with lessening the amount of blinks per minute and increasing the amount of time they take. I'll update here if that accomplishes anything.

what about turning auto blink on and off as needed during the recording process? That way you have auto blink when there is no head take, your blinks when there is? I haven't tried it but might work?
