Mask for pupils not working... Mouse recording not working for eyes.

So I created a green layer just like the video tutorial.  As I do not wan the eyes floating out of socket.  But the Masking option is there, but in light grey thus it can not be used what is wrong?

Also... tried recording the eye movement with a mouse as opposed camera control.... but it is not working like it did with the Beta.  Eyes are not moving or popping into a direction.
