Sharing Scene To After Effects with DDL

I'm using Character Animator 2.1.1 and After Effects 15.1.2

Initially, I was exporting my scenes from CA and importing them into AE.  This apparently is more of a copy/paste method, so changes to the scene need to be exported again and imported again.  Some of the work done on the scenes in AE would need to be done again as well.

I was using this method because the simple "drag your scene into AE" method wasn't working.  Come to find out, in order for DDL to work, the versions of the two apps had to be compatible.  I noticed I was behind on an upgrade to AE, so I updated it.

That's when the S hit the fan.  I was able to bring scenes into AE and as far as I could tell, they were linked by DDL to the scenes in CA.  After a very short period of time (minutes) working in AE, I received an internal error, out of bounds and AE froze.  This happens repeatedly, now as soon as I open the project.  I've tried a new project and bringing the assets from the old, but that apparently brings the problem.

So, I'm faced with the inability to have updating scenes if I go with incompatible versions, or AE freezing.  I'm sure I'm not the first to encounter this problem.  I'm sure there's a workaround.

    Hi Dan,

Thanks for reaching out. The dynamic link works when the version of both the applications is in sync.

Did you test the issue with the latest version of Adobe After Effects i.e. 16.1.2?

    Thanks,
