Question

'Remove older versions' doesn't work

The 'Remove older versions' function doesn't work. In fact, I don't know if I've ever seen it work.

What I'd expect is that the 2025 version is uninstalled when the 2026 version is installed.

However, this is not the case. I have auto-update enabled but now have 2025 and 2026 versions installed.

The same behaviour happend with 2024/2025 versions.

Hi @Robert32194799hqfj , @David23964006wlqs . It might be too late since it's been a couple days since you saw the issue but could you collect and upload a log file so we can look into this? Instructions here: https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/apps/troubleshoot/diagnostics-repair-tools/run-log-collector-tool.html. Please share the full name of the uploaded log file in this thread.

Hi Kalvyn,

No worries. Just so you know, looks like the only program to not remove itself is InDesign. I thought it was Illustrator as well but it seems to have removed itself.

Thanks - going to pass on the logs to the team to see if we can figure out why the older InDesign version didn't get removed.

Same for me. Now I can't associate files with the new version. Also can't uninstall previous version myself - must have a network admin do it for me. Ugh.

did you opt to remove older versions before installing a major update?

There's no differentiation between major or minor updates in the app settings.

correct, but removing prior versions only applies when there's a major version update.

so the question remains.  did you change your settings before there was a major update?

I don't recommend uninstalling 2025 just yet anyway but I've never seen that feature fail to work.

well now you have! 🙂

I'd rather not have the old versions, and reinstall them as needed.
