After the latest update to version 6.1.0.587 my copy of Adobe Muse will no longer open.
It partially loads, and then just closes.
In the Windows 10 logs I'm seeing -

Anyone any idea why this is happening?
I have uninstalled and reinstalled Muse and that makes no difference.
This is a big problem as I need to update one of my Muse websites.
And please, DON'T just tell me that Muse is now unsupported and obsolete and I should be using something else, I'm well aware of that!
I have carried on using Muse until I can find something better, which I haven't yet, and it has always worked fine up until now.
I haven't knowingly made any changes which would prevent it from working, so why has it suddenly apparently failed?
Thanks, Dave.
Thanks very much for that!
I actually managed to get Muse to run late last night too, by forcibly closing down all the other Adobe programs running on my machine. You don't have to have the CC Desktop app running to use Muse of course, it runs just fine by itself.
It's not exactly ideal though.
I will try to open a support case with Adobe about this, now we know for sure that it's not a problem with Muse itself, but with the latest version of the CC Desktop app.
Cheers, Happy Christmas from me too,
...In my experience, one or two of the processes are quite stubborn, and keep on restarting again!
For anyone who doesn't know, you just right click on the processes in the Task Manager, and select 'end task'.
I also went into the Startup tab of Task Manager, and disabled all the Adobe processes from running at boot.
That helped a lot.
Bear in mind that you may well need some or all of them running if you have other Adobe CC apps installed, but I only have Muse, so that's not an issue.
georhansc,
i found the following: Kudos to Adam Mehlhaff from the Adobe Muse Support forum on facebook. In fact, the method he suggested was the only one that worked besides other proposals and I was able to launch Muse, make changes to my pages and upload the updated pages. At first I was a bit skeptical as Adam is on WIN 11 and I am on WIN 10, but it worked perfectly. This is certainly not a permanent solution, but at least I was able to start Muse and make the urgent changes. How did I do? I w

I fully agree, Muse is a really great program.
Why Adobe suddenly decided to abandon it is a mystery, but I'm afraid that I can only assume that they decided that they just weren't making enough money from it.
The fact that you can still include it in a Creative Cloud subscription must mean that they still accept that people want to use it though. I had it on a single app subscription, and had to jump through a lot of hoops to get them to agree to continue that, but they did, and they're still taking my money for it every month! I have no other Creative Cloud apps.
I would be amazed if it were ever open-sourced, but that would indeed be great!
Cheers, Dave.

I must say I'd never heard of that!
Were they hoping to integrate Muse into Figma, but couldn't reach agreement on it?
That's still no reason to have completely abandoned Muse, IMO.

The most usual reason for Adobe to stop supporting a product is because the development team went elsewhere and there is no one left to provide support. We must remember that Adobe is an aggregator and usually buys existing startup products rather than develop in house. That is why shifting to an open source model might be the only option for continued support of Muse. If you dive into the Muse output HTML code it quickly becomes apparent that the implementation had some sort of design flaws (as does almost all code) that no one really wanted to fix.
Let's agree that the real issue here is the Creative Cloud APP that needs to be FIXED!

Adobe Muse reached End of Service almost 4 years ago on March 26 2020. The forum for Muse is Read-Only, so I won't move your post there until you have time to answer in the Using the Community forum.

adobe's aware of the issue and is investigating. meanwhile see https://community.adobe.com/t5/creative-cloud-services-discussions/muse-not-running-after-creative-c... for work-arounds.

I phoned the German Adobe Service today. The service employee said that the problem is well known and that several people have already called. However, he did not know whether it would be solved. He said it could take a week, a month or maybe it will never be solved. That sounds exciting - doesn't it?

i'd check the work-arounds while waiting.

in the future, to find the best place to post your message, use the list here, https://community.adobe.com/
p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post (like this one has already been moved) if it helps you get responses.

@pattikingPatti, if you will read the rest of this thread, I think you will discover that "wishing does not make it so." I have moved on from Muse and now that I have learned how to use WordPress and the Braintstorm Force family of products to create my websites and blog, I have come to think that this was the way that the universe got me to stop holding on to an out-of-date technology and move on to something that works better, faster and easier than Muse could ever hope to be. My current Muse sites often run slow because Muse is still calling for bootstrap CDN to deliver Typekit fonts, which haven't been available for more than two years.
It's up to you, but back when the Typekit issue surfaced, I found a way to use self-hosted fonts and got around that one, but in my opinion, Adobe has no intention of doing what you would like them to do. I think it's time for a reality check. During the Typekit days, one savvy user told us we would all have to eventually move on. I held on as long as I could, but in the end, she was right. Muse is not coming back, and it's not competitive with current ways of creating websites. Just my two cents' worth. I got off the fence and am now glad I did.

I didn't install an earlier version of the CC Desktop app.
As I said, Muse does not need the app to be running to work, although obviously file sync will not work. I will try installing the earlier version when I get a chance. To disable updating, is it enough just to turn off the 'always keep up to date' switch? I have that off always anyway, and updates are still forced on me!

For test purposes, I have just installed the software on a new system under Windows 10 - no success.

What software?
(and by the way, you can write in German here, no need to translate by DeepL, even that DeepL is probably one of the best.)

The actual problem is with the recent new version of CC Desktop.
Muse is working fine, and no amount of uninstalling it and reinstalling it will make any difference.
Whatever they did which is preventing Muse from loading successfully could well be affecting other Adobe programs as well, although I haven't seen any reports to that effect.

I strongly suspect that whatever they did to the desktop app is not disturbing newer programs. It may simply be that some hooks where the programs used to attach to are no more operational. As you shut down the desktop app, I suspect that the application determined that the desktop app is not running and that they do not hook up to those services.
I fear that there won't be a solution to this, except if it is an easy one.

Sometimes users don't know… It's always to be good to be precise. I had multiple times people talking about X when the subject was about Y.
And the software could be anything from the CC Desktop app to Muse.
