Basically- you cannot!

Even if you can obtain a download file to install Ps, you will still need the CC Desktop App to Validate your subscription and Activate Photoshop.

Without the Desktop App - Ps will cease to work.

Photoshop is installed in your computer 'locally' it can operate (while Activated) without internet access.

You do not have to use the 'Cloud' for anything other than- Install and Activate Ps.

Like Microsoft Word: you chose what is stored to the cloud. 

It's more like Photoshop+Cloud services than Photoshop Cloud Services. Indeed, for many years after the introduction of the Creative Cloud, I used Photoshop as I used it since my very first version, by storing everything locally on my company file share. Only recently, I started using libraries for items, like corporate idendity (colours, logos, design elements) because it's that much easier to share those items as a library than on our network drive, as we did before. That still means, that no critical data, in your case patient image data, leaves your network. 

 

Your IT can even selectively close the doors, so that Photoshop and other Adobe programs do not leave the corporate imposed quarantine.

 

(BTW: looking at my local hospital's infrastructure, I'm not concerned about someone putting confidential data on the cloud. I'm more concerned by the overall security of the network. Just a reflection from a guy, who did network security for some time, and being a network and computer security advisor for my whole professional life.)

Photoshop works fine without the cloud storage. Even that Adobe integrates more and more (useful) features around the cloud, like libraries, you absolutly get Photoshop working completly locally. You need however to pay attention, because some features have the option to send the asset to the cloud to perform operations, like subject selections. The also work locally with less performance, however. 

 

After the sign in and confirmation of the licence, you may even pull the internet for 99 days, before Photoshop needs again to check the licence.

CC has been worse than a nuisance to me. I have been using Illustrator and Photoshop  since their beta versions. If CC is necessary for running Illustrator & Photoshop, why is it sold seperately. Why am I charged $60 for Illustrator & Photoshop, and another $60+ for CC.  This is just the beginning of my gripe. I live my worklife in Illustrator. I have lived my work-life in Illustratot for 37 years.

contact adobe support and ask them to change your plan(s). to what you need.

I've absolutely HAD IT with Adobe.  I've used Photoshop Elements for years, and purchased the upgrades again and again for I don't know how many dollars.  Now I can't use Elements anymore without paying $30/month for some garbage called "Creative Cloud" that slows my NEW MacBook Pro to a crawl?

 

ENOUGH!  I'm going to find a different photo editor, and Adobe can kiss where the sun don't shine.

 

If I'm bothering to post, you can be sure that there are hundreds of other former (and now similarly disgrunteled) customers who didn't bother.  Apparently Adobe desires bankruptcy?  Goodbye forever, Adobe.

You have been misinformed – the Photography Plan include the full version of Photoshop and Lightroom and updates as they become available for around $10 a month. Photoshop Elements 2022 is a light version of Photoshop and is available for a one-off payment of around $90.

When I attempt to start my Adobe Photoshop Elements 2021, I get a message that it can't start because elements of Creative Cloud are missing, and that I should reinstall CC.  But wnen I go to the Adobe website to reinstall CC, I get a pricing structure of $30 per month.  So AM I really "misinformed?"

 

I won't say it's impossible, but the error messages and web pricing are absolutely factual.

I appreciate you are trying to defend the company but unfortunately, it's indefensible.  I have a Mac Pro on which I was running High Sierra 10.13.  Creative Cloud would cause my system to go into kernel panic and crash a dozen times a day.  I spent God knows how long trying to get to the bottom of this issue, never thinking it could be caused by CC.  Only when stumbling across a thread like this did the penny drop.  I uninstalled all Adobe apps, eradicated CC from my Mac and hey presto, the problem stopped.  In the six months that followed, my machine did not crash once.

 

As I said to Adobe Support, please do not try to deny my experience or try to persuade me that this was all the fault of some other anonymous program which just happened to alleviate coincidentally when I removed CC.  In my opinion, CC is a deeply flawed piece of software that is unfit for its purpose.

 

My opinion has hardened considerably because I was willing to concede that perhaps the issue lay with my older MacOS or hardware spec.  Buut I now have Mac OS 11.6.2 Big Sur installed, along with a dual processor and GPU upgrade.  I'm sittting on 64GB of RAM which ought to be more than enough for the keen amateur projects I work on.  It certainly handles FCP with ease.

 

I installed CC and guess what?  CPU running at 100%, fans blasting out at me even when I'm doing nothing with Adobe apps.  I can't believe this is happening on what is to all intents a brand new machine.  The system hasn't crashed but I can tell that something isn't right under the hood.

 

As others have commented repeatedly: this is unacceptable.  I cannot believe that a company like Adobe with such a professional reputation, is compromising its user base in this way.   I certainly wouldn't like to be having to rely on this software for my livelihood.  I cannot see any justification for the mandatory use of CC for those who wish to use single install, single computer versions of their apps (apps which we have all paid for via our subscription fee).  We ought be able to use a desktop version of Photoshop or InDesign without any recourse to a CC app that compromises our hardware and puts our data at risk.

Exactly right. I'm not here to be disrespectful, but I second absolutely everything you said. I have had all the same experiences, other than the fact that I am just beginning my creative endeavors and can't afford anything close to 64gb of RAM and the newest hardware. I bought a 2017 Macbook Pro assuming that it would be enough to mess around with, and I don't have time to be frustrated that my investment is betting fried by some random cloud software I don't even use. Adobe, please help us out. We want your software, but not your ecosystem. It was a nice try, but you can kill it now.

Update: This is to be fair to adobe! Eventually (not sure how) I found a way to run lightroom, photoshop, and illustrator with no problem having cloud running the background! Really not sure how, but it worked. So don't give up folks

CC ( Creative Cloud ) is in general unvonted blemish on Mac CPU. Always subject of problems and slowing down work, eating expensive space on Samsung SSD drives. Why Adobe is not providing Exlusive photo-pack PH & LR with out  [Cursing removed by moderator] .

Just an update on my issues with Photoshop Elements and Creative Cloud:

 

Every time I try to open my copy of 2021 Photoshop Elements, I get the message that "there's a problem with Creative Cloud" and that I should "reinstall Elements."  If I ignore the message two or three times, I can eventually get Photo Editor to accept the image(s) I'm trying to open after which I can edit my photos and save the changes.

 

But I shouldn't have to fight the software to be able to use it.  I have a 2019 MacBook Pro with a 2.3GHz, 8-core Intel I9 running 32G of RAM.  If I install Adobe Creative Cloud, the entire machine slows to an absolute crawl and crashes randomly.  I can view the processes and the percentages of clock cycles that different programs draw, and Creative Cloud IS absolutely the bad actor.

 

Either Adobe doesn't care about Mac users, or else they've accidentally engineered a resource hog that they don't know how to fix.  Adobe Creative Cloud is an atrocity that makes Adobe software virtually unusable.

 

Either Adobe fixes their software to work without Creative Cloud or updates the CC software to run with fewer resources or I'll never spend another dollar on Adobe products.  Apparently I'm not alone.  Adobe, the ball's in YOUR court!

Apparently there is a bug somewhere here, but it should be noted that this is not the normal behavior. Most of us see no performance impact whatsoever from CC.

 

So the question is, what specifically is happening on this machine. Post it under "Bugs", and try to collect as much supporting data as possible - resource monitor, graphs, numbers etc. Anything that shows excessive resources being used.

 

For reference, I just checked here (Windows), and although there are quite a few CC processes running, they're not using any resources. No CPU, no GPU, no disk activity; at most a few MB of memory. They're basically just sitting there.

 

It should also be noted that any large and complex application will have a lot of background processes running. What's different here is that the CC app lifts all of it out of individual applications and into a centralized application manager. So if it was possible to run the application without CC, that would mean moving these processes back into the application. It would still be there and you wouldn't really gain anything.

My system was bogging down for some time now. I periodically did some troubleshooting to try to find the culprit. 

 

It seems to get better after I logged out of the Creative Cloud app, cleaned my ID Credentials with the Adobe CC Cleaner app, then logged back in. The system is working much better.

 

Time will tell if it stays that way, but the fix only took a few minutes.
