What is the best method of naming, filing and saving files while working with Adobe?

Hey guys, what is the best method of naming, filing and saving files?
eg: client-job-discription-year-V01.
Should I use a dash symbol or underscore between words?
Is V01 a good way to differenciate between versions?
Use a source / asset folder for pics?
I'm using Windows 11.

currently you can get away with quite a bit more than in the past, but if you use file names safe for past os'es you won't have a problem with current ones:

use underscores

v01 is ok if you expect less than 100, versions. otherwise, v001 if max 1000.

eg, for project1 i like to use project1_v000, project1_v001 etc.

use different folders (suggestively named) for different assets, or different versions.

While it is not technically wrong to use periods in file names, it is best to avoid using them.

Filenames should not contain spaces or special characters (#$%^&*).
Filenames may safely contain alpha-numeric characters with hyphen - or underscore_ separators.
For best results, avoid excessively long filenames, no more than 35 characters.
