Adobe Ebook not opening

We are not able to view an ebook and the error message is saying,
 
" Activation Server Error
code: E_ACT_NOT_READY
DIgital Editions encountered an error on the activation server."
 
We tried uninstalling and reinstalling Adobe Digital Editions and that did not work.
 
Finally we tried erasing the authorization with my Adobe ID and password, while ensuring internet is connected. We get the message "Unable to Erase authorization, please try after some time."
 
The book is lifetime use so this should not be an issue. Please advise how to get this fixed.

    Also wanted to add that, the ebook opens on my other laptop. I was able to open it from both laptops prior to today.
