If due to some reason, you are unable to deauthorize ADE, follow the below steps:

Mac: Navigate to /Users//Library/Application Support/Adobe/Digital Editions and drag the activation.dat file to the trash.

ADE will be deauthorized now.

Now Authorize ADE again.

Windows:

Choose Start > Run.

In the Open text box, type regedit and then press Enter. The Registry Editor opens.

In the left pane of the Registry Editor, locate the following registry key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Adept

Right-click the Adept key and choose Delete.

In the Confirm Key Delete dialog, click OK.

Your authorization will be deleted.

ADE will be deauthorized now.

Now Authorize ADE again.

I am having the same problem, but cannot find the file "activation.dat" as you suggested. I searched for it with Finder. I also can't even locate the "Application Support" folder and there is no folder within "Applications" for Digital Editions... only the program file. This is extremely aggravating.

I did, but there is no folder for Digital Editions. And it didn't follow the same path to get there... Mine went Computer/Library/Application Support and I checked in Application Support as well as the sub-folder Adobe. No Digital Editions to be found.

Ok, try the following way to access activation.dat:

1. Go-> Go to folder.

Go to folder dialog will appear.

2. Type   ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Digital Editions

drag the activation.dat file to the trash.

Hope this works !!

. Same problem of imposibility to erase the authorización. Please try,etc......

Seems I have 2 diferents identities for Adobe

I  tried to delate Adept Key : no way, says it will give inestability to the system. I can see that the predermined key in Adobe Digital doesn´t have a value established.

Sorry for the style I`m translating from spanish.

What if I delete the predermineted key of Adobe Digital ? Would it help ?

Thanks for your answer. I already try what  you recommanded:

I made a back up of the key and  tried to delate Adept Key : no way, says. deleting certain values of the register would cause the inestability of the system  and when I confirm delete says cannot delete all the specified values

I tried to run as an administator, no way either.

I can see that the predermined key in Adobe Digital doesn´t have a established. value.

Hope you understand: I´m translating from spanish.

I dont feel very sure to play with the system. What should I do ?

Hello,

Make sure Adobe Digital Editions is not running when you are trying to delete the Adept key.

Deleting Adept key will only affect Adobe Digital Editions and no other software will be affected by this.

Only make sure that you are deleting the correct key :

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Adept
