Can't install updates - Adobe CS6 Design and Web Premium MAC OS SIERRA

Hello,

I tried to use online chat support but the supporter directed me to this place. I can't install updates for Adobe CS6 Design & Web Prem Pack. I have downloaded updates from Adobe official site - other download. I have the license. I run on Mac OS Sierra. When I try to install an update (doesnt matter if for illustrator or photoshop or other component) I constantly get the information that Install is Failure and it cant use this update. I expect prompt and reliable help from your support.

At some point in the past (I don't know the exact date) Adobe "merged" the original update manager into the Cloud update manager, which means you are no longer using your original update manager

I have read some messages that the latest (Cloud) updater sometimes doesn't work with old programs... Try installing your updates manually

Updates start here and select product, read to see if you need to install updates in number order, or if the updates are cumulative for the individual product http://www.adobe.com/downloads/updates/

Dear John,

Thank you for your effort but as I mentioned - I have the upgrades locally - and I can't install them anyway. And yes the cloud manager don't see my installed products. So the question is how to install updates manually if I already have downloaded update files but when I try to install them they always show installation failure bug.

Log is showing nothing. But the log refers to Adobe CS6 installation - not the updates - the thing is I want to install updates.

When I try to install update via terminal it prints following errors.

Piotrem why are you reinstalling Creative Suite 6? Is this a new computer? Did you migrate/transfer any files from a previous computer to the Mac running Mac OS Sierra?

Also to confirm Piotrem you navigated to /Library/Logs/Adobe/Installers/? Can you please post a screen shot of the Installers folder? Information on how to post a screen shot can be found at FAQ: How do I capture and post a screen shot or video?.

Jeff Im not reinstalling CS6 - I have the base package already installed - the only log I have refers to this Adobe CS6 installed package the other one from terminal refers to update install failure. As for the computer I had disk and motherboard failure earlier this year so the authorised service had to replace disk and motherboard with new ones. As for the path I confirm that I did navigate there - as you can see image below there are two log files and one logfile with error from 20.09 - but this errors refer to the problems I encountered while trying to install CS6 which is already installed - but below the image I paste the errors from this logfile.

Thanks for updating this discussion Piotrem. It looks like you also had Creative Cloud products installed on this computer in the past. This is why there is an install.log file available at /Library/Logs/Adobe/Installers/.

Based off this new information I would recommend you completely remove your current installation of Creative Suite 6 and reinstall. To do this properly please use both the uninstallers and the CC Cleaner Tool to remove the current installation. This will help ensure files such as those you listed in the log summary are removed.

Please complete the following steps to remove and reinstall Creative Suite 6 Piotrem.

Run all available uninstallers in Applications/Utilities/Adobe Installers
Download and run the CC Cleaner Tool - Use the Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems
Download a fresh copy of the Creative Suite 6 installation files - Download Adobe Creative Suite 6 applications
Utilize the workaround of utilizing the Terminal to begin the Creative Suite 6 install process - Installing Creative Suite on macOS 10.12 (Sierra)

For information on how to locate your registered serial numbers please see Find your serial number Piotrem.

Once you have Creative Suite 6 installed you should then be able to apply the updates automatically through the applications.

Please remember that the CC Cleaner Tool is designed to run in conjunction to the uninstallers. Just running the CC Cleaner tool will not remove any installed Adobe applications completely.

Jeff I did every instruction you gave me: every instruction was carefully terminated including reseting computer, cc cleaning uninstalling everything in the correct order you gave me but the problem is still there - the same install failure - from local files and new adobe CC app doesnt recognize my installed CS6 Products. I dont know why it see that I have acrobat DC which I haven't installed. Nothings changed same failures sadly.

Piotrem I am sorry but I do not understand why you have the Adobe Creative Cloud desktop application installed? You need to remove all installed Adobe software and then reinstall Creative Suite 6. Please review post #11 again and do not install the Creative Cloud desktop app again.

Are you planning to also use Acrobat DC on this computer Piotrem or are going to use Acrobat 11 which is installed as part of CS6 Design and Web Premium?

Dear Jeff it doesnt matter I installed CC again only after checking updates directly from app and from local file downloaded from adobe website. Nothing works. But to be totally sure I performed your suggested steps once more without installing CC manager. So to be precise:

1) I did run all available uninstallers in Applications/Utilities/Adobe Installers

2) U used CC Cleaner tool

3) I restarted computer and try to run CC Cleaner once again to be sure that nothing left. But the result was as above - '0' entries fixed - so there should'nt be any leftovers from CC which is good.

4) I successfully installed CS6 Design and Web premium components I'd like to use:

5) Now the worst part - UPDATES - as you can see APP doesn't have an update avalible from inside help->updates option (update option is blank):

What is important APP is not up to date - the installed version is 16.0.0 so there should be an update option avalible to latest which is 16.2.2

6) Having an updates downloaded from Adobe - Illustrator : For Macintosh and other latest updates for other components and trying to install them from file doesnt work either:

The error says that there was an update failure and couldnt use this update.

Excellent Piotrem we have made progress. My primary concern was that as soon you installed the Adobe Creative Cloud desktop application you updated the components we were trying to downgrade to their Creative Suite 6 version.

You have made good progress now to sort out where to download, and apply, the updates for Creative Suite 6 Design and Web Premium.

You can download and apply the updates, manually, from the following locations:

I have heard reports that individuals have need to utilize the workaround listed in Installing Creative Suite on macOS 10.12 (Sierra) even when applying the updates Piotrem. If you are finding the download updates are not applying, under macOS 10.12, then please begin the process through the terminal like you did for CS6 Design and Web Premium.

Piotrem the installation log you posted is riddled with errors about being unable to write to /Library/Application Support/Adobe/PCF/. In specific an example of the error is below:

I would recommend you first try adjusting the file permissions of the /Library/Application Support/Adobe/PCF/ folder by using the directions listed in Errors "Exit Code 6" and "Exit Code 7" installing Adobe CS6, CS5.5, CS5, Premiere Elements, and Phot... .

The installation log is appended to after each installation attempt. So if you see the same errors occur after adjusting the file permissions Piotrem; then please create a new local administrator account and apply the updates in the new account. Jeff A Wright I did all you suggested I checked the permissions - they were okay, I did additionally chmod for these files I created new admin account still the same. It can't install updates.

Piotrem I am sorry but if you are still facing permission failures under the new account then I don't have any additional suggestions. You have already gone through the suggestions for a clean installation under post #11.

I would recommend you back up any necessary files and settings. You can reinstall macOS Sierra, restore only the documents and settings, and then use the workaround listed in Installing Creative Suite on macOS 10.12 (Sierra) to install Creative Suite 6 and it's available updates.
