Question

Clean install and migration of CS6 to a new SSD on the same computer

I have a MacPro 5,1 and I use Adobe Creative Suite CS6 on this computer. I have a Carbon Copy Clone of my SSD on the same computer. If I reformat my SSD and do a clean install of Mojave, is it possible to use the migration assistent to transfer my CS6 to the new formatted SSD? Or do I have to deactivate it and reactivate afterwards? Or do I have to reinstall CS6? I have the original DVD but I doubt that the installer will work on Mojave.

    that might work, but it's more likely to fail.

    the recommended way to install cs6 on mojave is

    1.  secure your serial number

    2.  reformat your ssd

    3.  reinstall cs6 with your installation files* (you may need to copy to a usb drive or some other storage) if your computer has no dvd drive.

    4.  activate with your serial number

    * you're likely to encounter a problem when starting to install.  adobe's posted a work-around:  https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/install-creative-suite-mac-os-sierra.html

    The MacPro has a dvd drive but i have to be sure that the installer will work on mojave and that i will be able to update.

    There were several updates available in the past. It would be easier if the migration assistant transfers all my installed applications. I won’t take the risk if i am not sure.
