As a long time CS user, actually Photoshop 2.5 was my first adobe software, I have no plans to move to cloud based software bundles. Not with these prices. How long will Adobe matain support for their CS6 bundle? It would be nice o know...

Actually the prices are pretty competitive for what your getting. I choked when I saw the prices at first but they're about on par with what others are charging for software (FinalCut Pro is $300). As for how long CS6 will be supported probably not long. CS6 has been around for about 5 years so probably not that much longer.

I can't see anything about a commitment to support the next releases of OS X and Windows in the FAQ. But if that has been announced, then I guess it's some cold comfort.

As already said, "indefinitely" just means you haven't made public the end-date.

However, I can see "Adobe discontinued selling Upgrade Plan and Maintenance & Support plans for Creative Suite products in January 2013.", which is interesting.

Its in the CS6 FAQ:

I updated my response to include it.

Sorry for any confusion.

The "next version of Windows" ("8.1 Blue") appears to be scheduled for before the end of this year. Or is Adobe committing to something else further out?

If it was abandonware as you claim, how do you explain the bug fixes updates released yesterday?

I would call it mollifying before the great coming out on 17th.
My trust to this company is still on MS level since May 6th.

We have committed to selling CS6 indefinately, as well as updating it to support the next releases of Mac and Windows.

This is discussed in the FAQs:

http://www.adobe.com/products/cs6/faq.html

Hope that helps...

Let's just hope that "indefinitely" means at lest a couple of years of support and not just six months. And by support I mean not just future OS compatibility, but fixing issues that are still unresolved in the current release.

Anyway, thank you for your answer...

Actually, what the FAQ states is

"Adobe is currently planning to support Creative Suite 6 on the next version of Windows. As Microsoft releases more specific details about the next version of Windows, we may adjust our plans."

This doesnt read like a commitment to me, rather an indication that presently Adobe is intending to, but could decide not too if too difficult/expensive

I didnt check if the wording is the same for MAC

They have said that you can purchase CS6 "indefinitely", which I presume means "we're not saying when we'll stop it", rather than "forever". I imagine that you can expect updates and support to dry up not long after the new Cloud versions have moved on sufficiently from CS6.

The way I see it, Adobe is (or rather, we are) needing some serious competition! Too bad Macromedia didn't held up. Wit this move from Adobe, there will be some real space for a serious contender in the graphics software game, I just don't see any one company with that kind of muscle. Maybe some sort of partnership or merger will solve that. I hope so, I'm soooo ready to ditch Adobe...

What support, if any user has a problem the best place to try to resole it is in the forums.

The problem in the future is when Adobe turns off the verification servers, then we are screwed
