Installing on D drive

Hey, I set up my directory to download on my D drive but it still says I do not have enough space ( Download Error ). Is there any way to fix this? To be specific, I am trying to download After Effects CC.

Yeah the Default location for the program install routine, the part you have to download from the internet to actually install the program, is placed on the C system drive. I don't know of anyway to change that.

Also you are completely out of space on the C drive. You should always maintain at least 10-15 % (and some say as much as 25% on a SSD) of free space on all drives.

The Documents folder is store on the C drive and that can be moved to your D drive. Along with that all the Windows Default (My) Pictures, Videos, Music and Stationary folders can be moved off the C drive. Google how to do that. Those folders, if you use them, could be taking up space on the C drive.

But in the end what you really need is a Larger SSD for the C system drive.

You could also try moving other programs you have installed on C to your D drive. To do that though you would need to uninstall them from C and reinstall them on the D drive.

Well if you have already set the CC DTA to Install All Adobe programs to your D drive (NOTE that has to be done BEFORE programs are installed. Otherwise any already installed program will stay on the System drive. With Windows that is C:)

And you are getting an Out of space error then you do not have enough room on the D drive OR the actual download, before the program is installed, is to the C system drive and you have run out of space on that drive.

To my knowledge there is no way to change where the Install.exe file is downloaded to. So you need to free up some space on your C drive.

Ahh, I see. I only have about 1.75gb on my C Drive left while on my D Drive I have 537gb left. Do you have any apps that you can recommend me to make more space on my C Drive other than Disk Clean Up because that doesn't seem to make much of an impact.

So I was looking at my C Drive and realised that there is an apple folder which is the biggest folder out of the entire C drive... It has 39GB...

I'm afraid to delete anything as it might affect my phone. Should I do more research on it before deciding anything?


the most it would have is back-up of your phone.  but because you probably have an iphone, your back-up is online, if it's enabled.

most likely it's your phone's videos and pics and maybe music.  did you check to see its contents?

anyway, you can always move the folder (eg, to your d drive) and then move it back if desired.

install the cc desktop app from here https://creative.adobe.com/products/creative-cloud and use it to install your adobe subscription and trial programs.

with the CC application opened, choose the 3 dots in the upper right corner and then choose Preferences.  in the preferences panel select Creative Cloud and then look for the Install Location drop down.

note:  you can't install on a drive's root directory and you can't install on a removable drive.

    I have downloaded the cc desktop app and tried to install it. I also changed the preferences to my D drive and tried to install. I also don't understand what you mean by '' drive's root directory '' and '' you can't install on a removable drive. ''

    By drives root directory do you mean my C drive that was with my PC when I bought it? and by a removable drive do you mean like a USB?

    Just a question, do I need to restart my PC for my download location folder to change?

    D: is the root of the D drive.

    create a folder (eg, Adobe) on your D drive and install on D:\Adobe
