Lightroom installs to default location despite specific install location set in application manager.

Lightroom keeps installing to the default install location even though I have a specific install location set in the application manager. Is there a fix for this issue?

    Luffy I can try testing this behavior as well.  It would not surprise me if Edge and possibly Muse installations also faced difficulty with the install customization due to the implementation of our install technology.

    I too have the same issue, I use a small fast SSD for my OS Drive and I am in dire need of LR to stay off my C drive for space and back up reasons.

    The fact that this is "as designed" in this age of OS only drives, multiple drives, custom configs for workflows, etc. reflects very poorly on the Adobe dev team and quite frankly, pisses me off. This failing reeks of engineer driven design, the END USER is what matters in software development and this issue is long overdue for a fix.

    Paul, I posted this the other week.
    Until they have it fixed, this is a work around, that works.
    Also, Adobe has viewed my video, and posted on Twitter, that they are working on resolving this issue now.

    There is always a way to do something, even when you are told that you really cannot do it.
    Check out this video, for information on how to properly move your Adobe Lightroom, to a drive you want it in, and have Creative Cloud Update program detect it.

      The answer is that it is working as designed. That is a sad answer. Please redesign it. I cannot back up my lightroom catalog on my D drive because it wants to use temporary space on my C drive. I don't have enough temporary space on my C drive so I'm trying to clear it by installing all my programs on my D drive. I'm also trying other things but man, this is poor design and needs to be changed. Or at the very least, please explain why THIS program MUST run on the C drive.

        Got the same problem, I have an 128GB SSD for my OS, partitioned with Linux and Windows 7, which lefts me quite little free space. Big applications are installed on a second SSD drive.

        I've just purchased Lightroom + Photoshop plan, there is no way i can install Lightroom on the second SSD.

        I just can´t believe that such an annoying and limiting bug cannot be fixed quickly, and I'm astonished by the behavior of Adobe team... I mean, really, is that an "as designed" feature of Adobe product? Are you really taking us for dumb idiots?

          A list of system requirements can be found at System requirements | Creative Cloud.  Please be aware that many of the hard drive space requirements are cumulative.  Shared resources are utilized between applications when possible.

          If you are facing hard drive constraints you can adjust your system variables to move the User folder and temp directories to your external hard drive.

          So far Lightroom 5 and Illustrator totally ignored the install location I specified. I'm down at less than 10GB now on my C: drive. Edit: looks like Illustrator ended up right. So, I'll just uninstall LR for now..

          Other users have reported this difficulty as well.  Are you also attempting to install on a different drive besides the one which contains your operating system?  Also which operating system are you using?

          Hi Jeff,

          Yes I am trying to install on a seperate drive. All the other programs have installed without issue.

          My OS is Windows 7 pro.

            Your statement in Lightroom and Creative Cloud FAQ does not answer the question about moving Lightroom to another drive. It just states an absolute. That is not very caring to your customers.

            Many people have raised the issue of moving Adobe products to another drive due to lack of space on the C drive. There is a legitimate need for this facility. Yet your answer that it is designed that way is incomplete. Why is it designed that way? Why is it not possible to change it? Why are the requirements of your customers being ignored?

            Your response smacks of father knows best. Do not question father! That is a Victorian attitude, I would hope a company like Adobe is above this.
