Photoshop Elements 11 serial number invalid after computr reset

I reset my computer (Windows 8 OS) and all programs installed through disc were deleted. I need to reinstall Photoshop Elements 11, but when I entered my product's serial number it said it was invalid. The program was completely erased from my system, and yet it is still activated. Is there any way to deactivate it without the program being on my system? Is there any way to reinstall it at all?

you don't need to deactivate if you're installing on the same computer (as long as there were no major hardware changes).

but, if you want to deactivate and uninstalled program, contact adobe support: http://www.adobe.com/support/chat/ivrchat.html

make sure you're using the correct number to activate:  http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/find-serial-number.html

Have new install of 11 and it will not accept #.

I then started trial, then tried #. It will not let a letter be put in. Just #'s

Any help?

adobe serial numbers never include letters.  they are always 6 groups of 4 numbers.

there are several possible ways to find/recover an adobe serial number.

1. search purchased materials: https://helpx.adobe.com/download-install/kb/find-serial-number.html

2. you can check your account (if you purchased from or registered with adobe AND you remember the adobe id used to purchase/register), https://accounts.adobe.com

3. if your adobe program is installed on another computer you can recover its serial number from that computer,
