Registration CS4 and CS5 application fail?

I have licenses for FW CS4, DrW CS4 and AI CS5. I changed from a Mac Pro 2009 to a Mac Mini 2018, with OS X 10.14.3.

Downloading all 3 programs work with the help of the Adobe-page. At installation of the programs, typing the serial numbers for registration left me with a red cross at the end of the serial number line and I cannot go on further. The team of Adobe checked my licenses and serial numbers, they are allright and valid. Suprisingly, launching the trial versions (no license needed) do work smoothly! So the programs can run on OS X 10.14.3, that’s not the problem. Only the verification of the licenses fail obviously. Launching the trial and trying to registrate afterwards, gave me the same red cross. I have tried everything that was suggested, cleaned my Mac from all Adobe files, started all over again, nothing worked.

So, is anyone at Adobe willing to help me? Let’s switch serial numbers, for instance. Or have the registration procedure repaired, or something like that. Anyone an idea?

Grz, Ton

    Hi Jeff,

Thank you very much for your intervenience. I have indeed copied and installed the original installation files from the old Mac to the new and, when at opening the serial numbers were requested and loaded, they were recognised. So the solution was dead simple in the end! I have now working apllications of FW CS4 and DrW CS4. However, they look a bit funny: kind of blurred, fonts are not quite sharp. I can’t get that better with other screen resolutions, so I’ll have to look further for improvements. If you have any suggestions, you’re welcome.

About the odd language: it’s just English....

About Illustrator CS5: I have downloaded the volume license installation dmg-file, it was still on my name at the url you send me. But... it cannot be opened. I don’t know what I might be doing wrong. I also don’t now what a volume license means; I have just downloaded the installation file some years ago, I am the only user of the application. The same trick as with the CS4 applications didn’t work either. So this leaves me with head scratching...

Thanks for the update, Tonj1008265.  What error message are you receiving when you open the Illustrator DMG file?  Please also see Installing Creative Suite on a new Mac or macOS 10.12 (Sierra) or later  which discusses the expected errors if attempting to install Creative Suite on modern versions of macOS.  This is why the workaround listed in Installing Creative Suite on macOS 10.12 (Sierra) is required.

assuming you're using a valid adobe serial number (6 groups of 4 numbers), you have a mismatch between your installation file and serial number.  ie, you can have a valid serial number, but if it's for program A and your installation file is for program B, you will see an invalid serial number message.

common mismatches are language/region (eg, serial number is for western europe and installation file is eastern europe), platform (eg, serial number is for a mac and installation file is win), license type (eg, education vs enterprise vs individual).

and one of the most common is using a program installation file with a suite's serial number. eg, using a cs6 suite serial number with a photoshop cs6 installation file.  that won't work even though photoshop is included in that suite.  you must use the (correct) suite's installation file (and you can choose to only install one program from the suite).

here's official info about that error,  http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/error-serial-number-valid-product.html

    Hi kglad,

I have checked whether I possibly could have switched the serial numbers. That was not the case, the serial numbers of the other applications didn’t work on any verification/registration.

Also I tried the workaround with opening FW via the “unix and terminal” way (as suggested elsewhere in the forum), it didn’t work either. Gave the same red cross after trying to registrate.

Now can anyone of the Adobe board help me out? I have valid serial numbers (as checked by Adobe), FW and other CS4/CS5 aplications can run as trial versions on OSX 10.14.3, but the registration of valid serial numbers fail. There must be some way out, don’t you agree?

In fact, the Adobe help team did take over my computer, they have a tool for that. They tried everything, nothing helped. In the end they send me to this forum, that’s why I am here, pleading my case. Is anyone at Adobe listening?

    no, these are user-to-user forums.

did they download your installation files?
