Valid cs5 edu (windows) serial number not valid anymore

Old computer crashed and I cloned the disc to a new computer.

Everything worked, but cs5 master collection (edu) started saying that the serial is not valid.

I contacted adobe support, got new cs5 installation packages, after re-install, serial was still not valid.

Then I contacted adobe support again and they said that they do not recognize my serial being a serial number issued by Adobe.

I then asked that how it is possible, that I have the same serial number registered to my adobe account and how it has suddenly become invalid.
I got no clear answers for that.

I have the original cs5 dvd discs - I reinstalled everything and things went smoothly, serial number was accepted. But after reboot photoshop started complaining that the serial was valid.

I have the original invoice of the boxed product. Original product did not come with a serial, I had to contact adobe and verify my student status. After that I got an email where the serial number was. I even have the original emails from Adobe in pdf-format, those did not help either.

you could try using a compatibility mode with your cs6 and if that fails, try an actual compatible os.

not buying from adobe is problematic.  i don't know about your specific vendor, but it has been common for some vendors to sell licenses that were legitimate when issued and then be later revoked because of some later infraction.  for example, they could sell a legal license for one person, but then later sell it to another person, too.  or sell an education license that's legit for 1000 people, but sell to more than 1000 causing the original 1000 to be ok, at first.  but once adobe learns of th

Hi,

Thanks for the tip. The os did not change compared to the old computer.

The problems seem to be that, that Adobe has blacklisted some old serial numbers. Seen others complaining about the same thing and it was always cs5 and edu version, where adobe emailed the serial to the customer after the customer provided proof that they are a student.

I contacted Adobe about this and after a week they still said that they did not recognize my serial. Original invoice did not help, because that small computer shop is not listed now as a official reseller.

If I uninstall the whole cs5, disconnect the computer from the internet, I am able to install that cs5 from original dvd discs. But once computer is up and running, after few moments photoshop starts complaining that the serial is not valid.

I still have the original email from Adobe where I got the serial number. That did not help either.

That might be case with some licences.

But this product did not come with a licence in box at all, It come with a certain code, and I had to create a Adobe account, send that code which verified that I have a genuine product. After that I  sent proof of my student status.

Adobe emailed me a licence code for this and for adobe acrobat too.

@lahiadobe

i'm not familiar with that process.  i wonder if that code that was in your box was subject to the same restrictions (and abuses) as a license.

in any case, the best anyone here can offer is speculation.  the best you can do is contact adobe support which i know you've already done and reached a deadend.
