How to deploy Adobe security updates silently without closing Adobe

I need to deploy Adobe Reader and Adobe Acrobat Standard and Pro securuty updates to our environment. I need to deploy these updates during normal business hours and I need to deploy them silently. I tried deploying them on test machines using SCUP ( we have SCCM 2007 ). The updates were able to install silently but the problem is if a PDF document is open it closes automatically when the install starts in the background. Is there a way to install Adobe updates silently without closing the program? I cannot deploy this during off-hours because almost all our users have laptop and they bring their laptops home every night.

We have versions 8,9,10, and 11of both Reader and Standard/Pro. Our OS is mostly Windows 7 64bit and a few XP.

Hi,

Those product versions behave differently. With which versions are you having an issue?

V9 is more likely to have the issue than 10 or 11 as the installation workflow was improved for those later versions. There's probably no workaround, but I'll investigate and post back if I learn anything useful.

The final answer is the app needs to close with 9.x. 10.x and 11.x do not usually need to close.
