If Adobe remote update manager is invoked when a user is currently using an application that needs an update, what happens? Will something break?

    Correct.

If the user tries to open it, I would expect the update to finish before they were able to open the app.

You can check what happened in the log.

Nothing will happen, the open product will not be updated. So users apps will NOT be shut down if they are using them.

    Excellent.

So I can get it to attempt to update several times a day without worrying it will break a users application then?

What happens if a user opens an application that is in the middle of being updated? Will it just refuse to open?
