FYI I'm having a similar issue in our environment. macOS 10.12.6, Creative Cloud 2017 with most applications installed.

Starting on 2017/10/18 at 9:21 AM (-4 GMT) all computers I've checked began showing the following when RemoteUpdateManager is run:

All Updates downloaded successfully ...

However, all computers have processed all other Creative Cloud 2017 updates successfully.

We are seeing this same problem. We have a mix of macOS 10.11.6 thru 10.13.4. We're running from the previous update of Adobe 2018 products. they all seem to download, and they all fail at the install - code 2. I gather there's been no word on the source of this issue?

Hi,

Return Code 2 means the updates failed to install. The typical cause of this is that the applications are running when you are trying to update.

Sorry, but that's not the reason. We restarted a GAZILLION times. We even tried installing them individually. No good. What else you got?

The next step would be to look at the RUM log.

Remote Update Manager log file

The Remote Update Manager log file provides detailed information about the events that occur during deployment of exception payloads with Remote Update Manager.
The log file is named RemoteUpdateManager.log and is located as follows:

In Windows, the log file is in the %temp% location.
In Mac OS, the log file is in the folder ~/Library/Logs/.

The errors that Remote Update Manager encounters are marked with the [error] tag in the log file.

The Remote Update Manager runs the complete Acrobat workflow (list and nstall) before running the Creative Cloud product workflows. The Acrobat logs will appear before Creative Cloud product workflows.

Also, the logs for all Creative Cloud products display in the following format:

BaseVersion/UpdateVersion. For example: AdobeLightroom-6.0/6.7.

However, the Acrobat and Reader logging information on Windows will be displayed as:

ProductName-BaseVersion. For example: AdobeAcrobatDC-15.0

We no longer use the Creative Cloud packager. Everything we build is now created and package via the Adobe Admin Console. But the assets that are installed and failed to update where packages created by the Creative Cloud packager back in the day. Could that be the problem?

The issue is usually associated with the core components that are installed with the Desktop App, so if you have an older desktop app that can be the problem - more likely with CCP which is for CC 2018 and earlier.
