Team License usage policy

We want to understand the legal consequences of the deployment process. My question can be simply answered in Yes and No rather than forwarding us to support article which doesn't make any sense.

1. With Team License if we have 6 Photoshop licenses, can we still deploy in 13 Machines?

So:
i) When one machine is broken, we can immediately switch to other machines.
ii) When one employee has resigned, we can assign the same license to another user in another machine.

2. Is it illegal to keep the Trial version installed in the machine when trial period is expired? When I say trial period is expired, I no longer have access to that product.

3. When we already have a team license active, is it illegal to install a Trial copy when we buy a new computer?

4. When my Team license period is over in the future and I want to reduce the number of licenses, do I have to uninstall adobe or format my machine even if I have not accessed to those products?

This is a user forum answered by volunteer users. We do not work for Adobe and cannot do any other than point you to the terms and conditions. I suggest you need to contact Adobe directly for your detailed license questions.

Hi Samir,

Thank you for reaching out to us.

I have shared my responses with respect to your queries.

Please find the following details :

  1. With Team License if we have 6 Photoshop licenses, can we still deploy in 13 Machines?
    So:
    i) When one machine is broken, we can immediately switch to other machines.
ii) When one employee has resigned, we can assign the same license to another user in another machine.
  • Let me respond to Query #1 , since you have 6 Photoshop Team users, as per the End User Licensing agreement, each User can install the product on 2 computers , while use the product on One device at a time.

That indicates that all 6 Photoshop Team users may go ahead and install Photoshop on 2 devices each ( totalling to 12 devices) by Signing in with their Adobe IDs respectively. And installation on 13th device will NOT be allowed as in that case, One of the 6 users will be installing the product on 3 Devices ( that is not allowed).

  • In a rare situation, If a machine is broken, the user can go ahead and install the product on another new device by Signing with his/her Adobe Email address.
  • When one employee has resigned, you may remove the user from the license and the user will not be able to use the Creative Cloud products installed using his/her Adobe ID. And once you re-assign the license to another User, this user can go ahead and install the product on his computer. The products installed by the previous user will not reflect under Active Device count as the Subscription will be de-activated.
  1.  Is it illegal to keep the Trial version installed in the machine when trial period is expired? When I say trial period is expired, I no longer have access to that product.
  • There is no legal obligation in keeping a Trial version installed when the trial period has expired since the product cannot be used anyway.
  1. When we already have a team license active, is it illegal to install a Trial copy when we buy a new computer?
  • Team licenses are Named User licenses ( assigned per user ). If the user has an Active Creative Cloud Teams Subscription on his/ her email address, he will not get the option to install a Trial Version since the moment the user Signs in with his/her email address for Activation, system will identify the Subscription on that particular email address and will not allow a Trial install.
  • 4. When my Team license period is over in the future and I want to reduce the number of licenses, do I have to uninstall adobe or format my machine even if I have not accessed to those products?
  • As you have mentioned that once the license is expired, you will not have the access to the products.  Keeping a software installed on your computer that will not be in use might take a considerable system disc space.
If you do not wish to uninstall the Creative Cloud products, you may leave them stay on your machine. If you wish to uninstall , you may simply uninstall the Creative Cloud App by downloading the Creative Cloud Uninstaller Tool from : https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/help/uninstall-creative-cloud-desktop-app.html

System formatting is not required in this case.

I hope that helps.

Thank you.

Hi Deepjyoti,

I will go case by case. In this message, I will only discuss Adobe Photoshop Deployment.

We have purchased 6 Copies of Photoshop, but we have deployed in 14 Machines. 2 Of them were backup machines just for our daily walking interview purpose. There were 4 Laptops which we carry to our home. In a real-world scenario, we have not even used six copies at a time too.

Currently,  Adobe Compliance manager is telling us that you can not have more than six deployments under the same premise. Another set of 6 copies must be installed on your home computer Adobe does not allow to install all 12 Deployment under the same premise.

Adobe Sales is committing something for which Adobe compliance manager does not agree about it. We have been given three days of timeline to buy additional licenses so they can provide us compliance certificate.

Who is right? Adobe Sales(Official Adobe Sales, I have a recording of how to use the licenses for which adobe compliance manager does not agree with)

I hope you can shed some light on this issue.

Thanks,

Sam

Hi Sam,

Thank you for reaching out to us here.

I would like to inform you that Creative Cloud Teams Subscription entails each user to install the product on Two computers, one work computer and one personal computer (install is allowed on Windows and Mac Operating system ) and use the product on One device at a time. This is as per the End User license Agreement that was agreed before placing the Order.

Hi Deepjyoti,

I will take over here on behalf of Sam.

When I talked to Adobe both Sales and Support. They said we can install two copies on the same premise no matter whether it is a personal computer or a work computer.

As for the proof, I have the following things:

  • I have audio call recording proof with Adobe Sales Team.
  • I have audio call recording with Adobe Support Team.
  • I have Chat Transcription proof with Adobe Team.

Everyone said we can install two copies at work. Adobe support has literally handed it over to the compliance team.

This post is for the community to shed light on Adobe's double standard. First Sales Team will sell something and they will say now talk to the compliance team, our job is over.

Thanks,

Pritesh
