Identity management in the Adobe Admin Console | Watch now (04:13)

Adobe’s identity management system helps admins create and manage user access to applications and services. Adobe offers three varying types of identities or accounts to authenticate and authorize users. They use an email address as the user name. These identity types are:

  • Federated ID: Created, owned, and managed by an organization and linked to the enterprise directory via federation. The organization manages credentials and processes Single Sign-On via a SAML2 Identity Provider (IdP).
  • Enterprise ID: Created, owned, and managed by an organization. Adobe hosts the Enterprise ID and performs authentication, but the organization maintains the Enterprise ID.
  • Adobe ID: Created, owned, and managed by the end user. Adobe performs the authentication, and the end user manages the identity.

For more information, see Manage identity types in Adobe enterprise offerings

Hi @Clemente Fabián Pereyra
Yes. You can add external users with an Adobe ID to your Admin Console. You can also assign these users to a product profile and give product entitlements if your organization has User Storage.

However, if your organization has Enterprise storage, Adobe ID accounts can be added but cannot be assigned to any product profiles.

Also, you can refer to the "switch user identity" to know more about how to edit your Adobe ID users. Or, watch the 2.5-minute video.
Hope this helps.

Hi, does all products (Adobe Acrobat, Creative Cloud for Teams, Adobe Sign?) are eligible for migration between Business ID to Federated ID ? Does end user need to purchase through a special Adobe contract type to be allow to this migration?

Hello, Thanks for sharing this.

I have been reading about a while but couldn't find an aswer for the following question.

We have to set upAEM as a Cloud Service, according to Adobe's documentation the first thing is to difine what Identity Type are you going to use. In our case it will probably be Federated ID as we'd like to setup SSO for our company. Nevertheless, there's a doubt about what happens after we set our Identity Type as Federated ID:

Even though we have defined Federated ID as our Identity Type, Can we still add users (external to our company) using their individual Adobe ID accounts? Or once you define that, all users must added through Federated ID?

Thanks!

Hi,

Is it possible to login into Adobe Analytics with an Enterpise ID. We want to create a new account for someone. The e-mailaddress was recognized because this person had already an photoshop account. We have selected this, but the person haven't received an e-mail to activate this account.

How to change Adobe ID to Federated ID. As per the article, I couldn't find the "Edit Identity Type by CSV" option. Please suggest.

Thanks,

Manisha

How can I switch a user from a Federated ID to a Adobe ID?

Hi Kelly,

The only option to do that is to delete that user's federated ID and add that user again using their Adobe ID.

Hope this answers your query.
