Thank you Barb, I'll certainly consider a training option.

    Hi Amit:

FrameMaker is used to create books, and books are made up of multiple parts: there's a book cover, a section or chapter for legal statements, a section or chapter for contact info, a table of contents (or list of headings) for the body of the book, multiple individual sections or chapters that make up the body of the book (i.e., Chapter or Section 1, Chapter or Section 2, Chapter or Section 3, etc) and an index at the end.

Your book may have some of these parts, or all of them. The Parts Catalog has templates for each of these parts, as does the User Guide. You can use whichever of these you would like as you complile your book.

I know this has been suggested on previous threads, but it's really hard to teach yourself FrameMaker. There are so many features that are not intuitive. I highly recommend tracking down a training class. It will make your life so much easier in the long run.

FrameMaker doesn't have a specific "template" document like InDesign and Word do. Any FrameMaker document can be used as a template that you can import formats from. Or, you can choose File > New and select any existing FrameMaker document and an Untitled copy of it will be opened.

I am trying standard template from here, but there are different parts in it like section, cover page, etc. And when I create a section, only section page is created. I am not getting how to use all that parts into a book.

When you want to create a new section, choose File > New and navigate to an existing section document. When you want to create a new cover, choose File > New and navigate to an existing cover document. Etc.
