Adobe Crash Daemon preventing Creative Cloud Updater

Hey folks, i'm trying to run the updater in the Application Manager on my iMac (Mountain Lion) but I keep getting an error saying

"Please close the following applications to continue:

  • AdobeCrashDaemon"

If I hit continue it just keeps popping back up and can't see where that application is running (presumably in the background somewhere)

Any help is appreciated

Thanks

Neil

Hi Sergei and Neil,

Did you check the Activity Monitor?

Should be in Applications > Utilities folder

- Open it and look under the Process Name column and see if you see anything saying AdobeCrashDaemon

- Try to Quit the process if you find it and then running the Updater again

You should be able to initiate the updater from within any of the CS6 products from Help > Updates (that might be what you are doing already)

Thank You, this worked as you stated. Is there something I can do to prevent this from happening again?

I couldn't find the programm. After a while I looked in the CPU and could not find it there eighter.
I did a forced stop via the Apple icon and forced stopped the creative cloud. Next the update went without errors...

The AdobeCrashdaemon stoped by itself after (a long...) while.

Hello,

I'm searching for help. I can't use photoshop because the app wants me to close Adobe CR Daemon.

I already did it, also on the app monitor of my mac but it still doesn't work.

Anything I need to do more ?

Thanks for your help

shut down your mac > start your mac > retry installing.

Hey I am having the same problem, so i deleted photoshop off of my laptop to just re-install it but it is only giving me the update option instead of re-installing it.

you need to properly uninstall, not delete with all programs, not just adobe's.

8 years later and this issue still exists smh. the process found here works, but seriously, 8 years of this bug is insane.

Closing Adobe CRDaemon in Activity Monitor worked great. Thanks.

Why are we supposed to use Activity Monitor to overcome a shortcoming in the installer? I get this error every time there's an update to Adobe Audition and only that app. There are usually 3 instances of the damned adobeCRdaemon running that have to be quit. Why isn't the installer dealing with it?

All you need to do is just:
() "Close folders"
