Hello,

I have installed LR 6 on new machine. I can't activate it unless deactivated on other machine. So on other machine I did "Sign out". There is a message - "it will deactivate LR on this machine" - I clicked OK. Still can't activate. On my Adobe account there is nothing under Plans and payment->Activated devices.

So haw can I use a product on new machine? I know LR 6 is quite old, but still it is something I purchuased and I want to use.

Correct answer MassC

Adobe no longer supports Lightroom 6.14 (perpetual).

What does this mean?

  • Installers, one-on-one technical support, security fixes, and bug fixes are not available for perpetual license versions. User to user led support is available through our Adobe Support Community.

For the latest updates and fixes please subscribe to a Photography, Lightroom, or Creative Cloud plan. Please be aware that there are two versions of Lightroom today.

Deactivate does not appear in the Help menu of Lightroom 6 and yet I'm asked to deactivate a prior installation before I can finish installing a new installation. Where is the Deactivate option located? Every other Adobe product I've used has Deactivate located under Help.

Simply use the uninstaller.

Hello there community,
I purchased Lightroom 6 in September 2018 and it worked fine for a while. I switched to another laptop, also OK. After a while, I started to get the message that the serial number was already in use on the maximum of allowed computers. I double and triple checked my old laptop. Nothing is on there anymore. Is there any way to check which laptops/computers are connected to the serial number and disconnect them?
Thank you very much and have a lovely day!

The customer support service told me they don't deal with non-CC versions anymore. However, I found the following information

"CS6, CS5, CS4, Acrobat XI, Acrobat X, or Acrobat 9

A single license for Adobe CS6 and earlier applications lets you install an app on two computers. However, you can use the application on only one computer at a time.

To install the application on a third computer, deactivate the application on the computer on which you no longer want to use the software. Then, activate it on the new computer.

1. Can't access your old computer? If you can't access your previous computer (for example, you reformatted the hard drive or lost the computer), don't worry. We can help you deactivate your app from your old device. Make sure that you have your serial number  or Adobe ID  handy, and then contact us ."

You have to contact Adobe directly, they will be able to de-active Lightroom on other computers.

You should have deactivated Lightroom before uninstalling. As far as I remember, the command is in the Help menu. The activation is still on the computers. You could reinstall Lightroom there and then deactivate.

Here are more options: https://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/error-activation-limit-reached-sign.html

I have Lightroom 6 from 2015. I have not used that much, and I have no computer I am using it on exept my new PC laptop. I have the serial number. How can I use LR 6 on my new PC and also install it on another new desktop without getting the message "Serial number already in use by maximum allowed computers"?

Hallo Adobe - Team,

Libi

Hello Adobe - Team,

in 2017 I bought a valid Lightroom 6 and used it until December 2019.

This week I built a new PC and today I tried to install Lightroom 6. Unfortunately without success. The message is:

The serial number ....... is already being used by the maximum allowed number of computers. You must deactivate another computer within 30 days to use this product.

What can I do? How can I deactivate the old computer ? It is completely dismounted and only the mainboard is left.

Of course I can present the original invoice, if desired.

Please help. Best regards.

Have you lost access to your previous computer?

If you cannot access the previous computer on which you installed the app—whether it was stolen, was lost, crashed, or locked—you need to contact us by chat or phone. To ensure a quick resolution, be sure to have any purchase-related information ready.

Hello, I´ve got this problem, too.

On my account there is neither a Chat-Button or any link to send a message to Adobe.

Hello community, I have a problem. I have a Lightroom 6 classic, CD and key. I have a new PC because the old scrap is. The installation worked but when I start I always get the message
...The serial number is already in use on the maximum number of computers allowed. You must deactivate one of the computers ....
But where and how? I would like to continue using the LR6, but I only have 29 days to "deactivate a PC". Can you help me? There are no computers in my Adobe profile.

As it is v6, you should have had to register it at Adobe. Bring up Adobe.com, sign in, select manage your account, select register a product, (I appear to be forgetting steps, might be off) look at v6, look at activated computers, deactivate the one you no longer have.

if you had a subscription plan, you would look at your plan, scroll to the bottom, and deactivate. Non subscription??

Might have to contact Adobe via Customer Care.

Hello. Complete "newbie," but 'old fart' here. Probably like many, I'm experiencing time-wasting grief attempting to install an 'update' to Win 10 over Win 7, both 64-bit and pro. Reluctantly, the next option seems 'formatting' the hard drive and starting over with a "clean" install. Catch is, that, sensibly, would entail deactivating both Photoshop and Lightroom (both purchased shortly before monthly 'subscription' became the mode), and then legally, with the blessings of God and Adobe, re-installing on the 'scrubbed' hard drive.

Anyone conversant with this type dilema probably knows that "deactivate" appears quickly in the Photoshop help options, but not so readily in Lightroom. As indicated in the 'subject' line, how in hell do I deactivate Lightroom?

TIA,

James

You don't say what version of Lightroom you are talking about. For Lightroom 5 or earlier, there is no such thing as activation or deactivation. For Lightroom 6 or later, you simply sign out of the Adobe Creative Cloud Application.

Version...didn't realize there were many different versions released around the time of the switchover from 'purchased' copies to the new 'subscription' arrangement.  Anyway, my version is 4.1.

Thanks,

James

Hi, I have bought a new computer and want to move my Lightroom program (not the pictures). It is registered on my Adobe account, so I just want a download link to install it on the new one. (Did the same procedure for CS6 Design and Web Premium with the help of chat-support, but they referred me here.) So please e-mail me the correct link for Windows 10, 64 bits! Best regards, Ulf

Which version of Lightroom do you have?

If it's version 6, you can download from here: Download legacy versions of Creative Cloud apps

If it's version 5 or older, you have to contact Adobe again.

Hi, I have already tried that link, did not work, probably because my version is older, from 2012 I believe. Please send a link for older versions! Best regard, Ulf

I upgraded/purchased Lr 6 a few years ago and downloaded from Adobe.  I now have a new PC and want to run Lr on it and de-activate the program on the old computer.  I have the Lr serial number from the old computer.  I can't find a site to download the program.  I don't need the CC photography package.  Any help here to get Lr 6 up and running on the new computer will be appreciated.

Download Photoshop Lightroom

Expand the LR 6 section.

Download and install the large Application Installer version from the top of the section.

Download and install the 6.14 patch installer that about half the size, just below.
