adobe illustrator stops saving after 30%

New Here ,
Jan 06, 2023 Jan 06, 2023

Trying to save a document in Adobe illustrator when saving document will process up to 30% then stops.
With saving in a different file format the document will save after illustrator states it has stopped responding then it will re-engage with the save.
I have updated the software to the latest version. I have also uninstalled and reinstalled software and none of us has fixed the issue.
Please can you advise

Hit the same 30% issue randomly while saving in latest version, Sept 2025.
Turns out Illy couldn't access enough RAM as my C drive was too full. Hope that helps others.

Hi @MICHEAL26461661ngzh,

Sorry for the trouble. I would suggest saving to the desktop first and then moving to onedrive. This will increase the saving process, and you will not need to uncheck anything. It is recommended to save locally rather than on network drives and external drives (https://helpx.adobe.com/in/illustrator/kb/illustrator-support-networks-removable-media.html).

I hope this helps & clarifies.

Regards,

Anshul Saini

Hello @hytham34684356fbjw,

Sorry to hear about your experience. Would you mind trying to save your work to a different folder or as a Cloud Document (https://adobe.ly/3RRB4uw) and checking if it helps?

If the problem persists, kindly share more details, like the exact version of the OS/Illustrator, the folder location where you are saving, and a screenshot/screen recording of the problem so that we can investigate this further.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Thanks,

Anubhav

I'm having the same issue too.  I'm trying to save a file that is at least 223MB, and has several PSD images incorporated into it, including three that have been turned into pattern swatches.  I've deleted everything unnecessary from the file, but every time I try to save, saving stops at 30%.  I'm saving to my desktop on a Mac Studio 2025 36GB memory running Sequoia 15.4.1.  I'm using Illustrator 29.5.1.

Hello @TR16,

Could you try saving your work as a Cloud Document to see if it helps? Also, try copying the layers/objects in to a new document and then saving it and share your observations.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

I don't use Cloud storage.  I did find a workaround, that I'm not sure will be entirely satisfactory.  I copied what I needed to a new document, as you suggested, and then instead of using the PSD files, I saved them as jpeg files and added those to my document.  That helped, and reduced the file size to 179mb (down from over 223MB).  It remains to be seen how things will work when I need to get artwork together to send to a factory for reproduction.
