Cant add asset to export assets panel

Hi , like the title reads im not able to add an asset i need to export, into the assets panel. it's just text and png grouped. it just show a blocked icon and i cant add it. i tried to ungroup and it doesnt work either. i dont understand why?

this is the first time i try this feature by the way so i might be missing something

what are the possible reasons for this? i cant take a screenshot asi this is a mouse action

ps: i hate this in illustrator, sometimes tools work and most of the times, you have to convert them into obscure formats, group, ungroup make outlines and whatever.. and most of the times it still wont work. so frustrating compared with photoshop, where it asks if you want to convert and that's it.

ps2: as a  workaround im dragging the group into photoshop and exporting as png from there 😕😕 but im sure there must be a better way
