Illiustrator window in fullscreen after escaping presentation mode

Community Beginner ,
Mar 13, 2024 Mar 13, 2024

Illustrator version 28.3
When entering presentation mode (shift+F), and then escape, Illustrator windows becomes fullscreen.
It's over my screen size. This causes me to manually adjust the window every time. It would be great to get back to same size and position.

I tested the previous version. Version 28 is the only normal version. All other versions have problems.

Try the presentation mode in View > Presentation mode.

I think the problem Angoo is describing is not how TO VIEW IN Presentation mode but what happens to their workspace when they come out of it.

I have the same problem. When coming out of Presentation Mode, my workspace has been converted to full screen, even though I have set a custom default workspace. And every time I view in Presentation Mode, I have to go back and adjust my workspace when I leave Presentation Mode. I hope that's more clear.

Still no solution and no response to these posts from Adobe after you posted 5 months ago. I guess they are not concerned that what probably is an easy fix is wasting their customers' time. Very frustrating!

Hello @Chad36056497ictn,

I am sorry for the delayed response. I tried replicating this behavior by running Illustrator 28.7.1 on macOS Sequoia. Would you mind updating the application and the OS to the latest version and checking if it helps?

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Thanks,

Anubhav

The problem is still there. It's not helping.

As I stated in my post, 28.0 is the only version that works, all other versions since then have this problem and you adobe don't care, very frustrating!

Of course we can always use version 28.0, but after that there are so many new features that have been updated that we can't update and use them because you, adobe, won't fix them.

Even if this problem is nothing, it is really bothering us users!

Hi Anubhav,

Unfortunately I'm running the latest version of Illustrator 28.7.1 but still have Sonoma 14.6.1 on both my machines. I'm using two different monitors on two different machines and it still happens in both set ups and even when I switch things around.

This problem does not happen in InDesign after viewing in presentation mode. InDesign it returns to the exact arrangement I had before I went into presentation mode as would be expected with any app!

I will try it again when we move to Sequoia and hope that this is resolved, but I have to think this is an Adobe Illustrator problem if other Adobe apps don't have this problem— not an OS problem.

Thank you for your time.

Hi @angoo,

I wanted to follow up on this issue. I tested this on Illustrator v29.3 on macOS 15.3.2 and was unable to reproduce the problem. Additionally, I checked with the team, and I can confirm that Anubhav has already logged this with the product team.

Could you please confirm if you’re still facing this issue in v29.3? If so, I’ll update the product team accordingly to ensure they have the latest information.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Best,

Anshul

Hi @Anshul_Saini

I have just tested and the problem still exists, I have the same macOS system and Illustrator version as you, I don't know why you haven't reproduced the problem but it has been happening to me for quite a while, and I'm sure to others as well, so please fix this quickly.

The problem still exists for me too. When escaping the presentation mode, I find my workspace to be out of the edge of the monitor and I have to manually adjust the window. Sending you a screenrecord of the problem. Let me know if this helps to understand the problem, thanks

Hi @angoo & @silviar76456244,

Thanks for your patience. I’ve tested this again on macOS Sequoia 15.3.2 with Illustrator v29.4 on a MacBook M1 MAX, and I’m still unable to reproduce the issue. I’m attaching a video from my Mac to show my test results.

To help troubleshoot further, could you please try running Illustrator in Mac Safe Mode (without opening any other apps) and check if the issue persists?

Looking forward to your confirmation. Thanks again for your cooperation!

Best,

Anshul Saini

Hi @Anshul_Saini

I don't know why you don't have the problem, the condition still exists in Mac Safe Mode, my Mac version and Illustrator version are the same as yours, but the only difference is that my Mac is an Intel system, not Apple's M-series chipset, which may be the key to solving the problem, I'm providing you with this information, I hope it will be helpful.

My Macbook has Apple M3 Pro chip, Sequoia 15.3.2 and Adobe Illustrator 29.4. I've tried running the safe mode, but the bug still persists. Please let us know what else to try to solve this problem, since it is really annoying working on AI this way. Thanks

Hello @silviar76456244, @angoo,

Our team is investigating this, and I will update this thread as I have more information. In the meantime, could you also try running Illustrator under a different administrator account (macOS) and check if it helps?

Looking forward to hearing from you.

I have this same problem. I have tried to clarfiy in a previous post. It's not a problem of USING Presentation Mode, it what Illustrator does to the Workspace when you leave Presentation Mode. When I leave Presentation Mode, my workspace has expanded to the edge of the monitor and shifted things around. This is even with things set with a custom Workspace.
